Common wiring diagram for brushless setup
As requested, attached is a common wiring diagram for brushless setups. Connectors are not displayed, but you will commonly use bullet style connectors for the motor<--->ESC. I use Dean's connectors between battery<--->ESC, but there are plenty of options. Just ensure the connectors you use will carry the amperage. The servo leads carry minimal voltage (3 volts typically), including the lead shown between the ESC<--->RX.
CAUTION!!! When using a BEC, always test your RX before connecting the motor to ESC. Most ESC's have built in protection and will not 'ARM' themselves without input from the RX, but do you really want to risk your fingers?
To test your RX...
1) Connect all components with exception of motor and battery
2) Double check you have everything connected as shown in diagram
3) Power on your TX (transmitter/radio)
4) Connect the battery
...If the servos respond to TX stick movements, your system is functioning properly. You can now safely connect the motor.
1) Disconnect battery
2) Connect motor
3) Power on TX
4) Connect battery
