New Product

new dsr-30 retracts

smaller, lighter version with metal gears...options include 90 degree rotating and leds...i can think of quite a few models (not just jets) these could work in...if i'm able to get a few for testing, i'll post my findings...

Oh no, not again!

Gun, I would really be interested in seeing how these hold up. The originals were c%^& unless you made greasers on a smoothly paved surface. Love the idea, hate the executions. I notice that all the loads are still taken by those sill little plastic ears, instead of rails, like Robarts have. Please keep us posted.

Cheers,
Jeff

i just got a non-rotating set for testing...i'm told the rotating set should be available in the next month or so...along with the metal internal gears, i also like how the wires exit the housing...in the original design, the wires were in a bad spot and tended to break loose...the included struts a 2.5mm and the included tires are about 1.75" in diameter...i'm installing this set in a new gws a-4...

A for effort in design, F for materials selection of these retracts. The trunions and side braces are now made from aluminum. Sadly, the rest of it is stilll made from sub-par plastic that can't handle the load.

I sure hope these are better than the first ones.

How can we buy them?

the weak points in the original dsr-46 design were:

- plastic trunions (pivot points tended to snap off)
- plastic internal gears (worm gear tended to strip)
- wire connections (solder points tended to break loose)

the above issues have been rectified with the dsr-30...i've also heard a metal gear version of the dsr-46 should be out in the next month or so...

for the record, i'm not involved in the manufacturing, distribution or retailing of these units...as long as the units work well, they are another option to mechanical and pneumatic retract systems...good or bad, i'll post my findings...

Just waiting for your report on them.
I wish they were available for a heavier plane.

Those 46 sized retracts in V2 should be out any day now. They are rated up to a 7 lb. plane. They look 100x better than the first version that came out, those were complete garbage.

By the way, Hobby City is selling these 30 sized ones for ~$70. Not bad at all.

Is Hobby City selling the new ones? they don't make it clear on their web page. Pics look like metal gears.

Yes, the 30 sized ones are completely new units and never came with the crappy plastic internals.

Hey could someone reconfirm the hobbycity 30 size ones are actually with metal gears inside (not only metal arms)? I'm about to buy them from sonic electric cause it clearly says metal gears inside on their web but the price difference of almost 50$ would probably make the hc a better choice if theirs also metal geared.

Thats a good question... I wondered why hobbycity was so much cheaper after shipping they're still about $30 less.
