Sloping Mr. Tipsy (parody on Driving Miss Daisy)

Glorious flying yesterday at San Francisco's Ocean Beach. As a result of getting 'busted' for flying at the more-accessible Crissy Field, it was necessary to scout out alternative sites. It's a long haul on the bike out to the beach, which faces west onto the open ocean.

Wind was 11 knots straight out of the west, rock steady and smooth as silk. The upward-sloping beach crowned by some dunes generated a surprizing amount of lift, which the plane rode with a minimal amount of throttle.. next thing to 'true sloping'. Then hit the throttle and climbed out for some gigantic loops and rolls and cavort with the seagulls. Some yearling gulls which are brown like to 'cavort', while the mature birds ignore the plane. Then just 'hover' motionless in the wind by adjusting the throttle, 'way above the slope lift. The little motorglider provides the best of both worlds - powered and 'true' sloping.

All in all this was the best flying yet. Just wanted to share it.
