Hyperion Wolf Aircraft Samson II

NipponDave alerted us to this gem today in the Hyperion BF-109 Thread

The Samson is remarkable. Floats like a trainer, does clean F3A aerobatics (non-coupled knife edge with minimal rudder!), and is even an excellent 3Der..

About 8.5 lbs all-up, using ZS4025 motor and 4200~5000mAh 5S.

Arrving USA togther with Fw190 in about 2 months...

This looks fantastic!

Sorry I don't have more details like wings span, etc. as yet.

I also attached a couple of pics of the real thing.

Chris,
The plane looks fantastic. I remember reading a thread where Dave was mentioning this plane like 2 years ago. I'm glad to see it's finally coming to fruition. The cowl is a work of art! At that weight on 5S I'm not sure it's going to be a 3D demon or anything but it could be a very nice sport flyer and super scale at that.

Hey Sean, haven't heard from you in a while.

I don't think the main goal of this design is 3D anyway, but would have to agree with you. I bet we could come up with a power option that would improve its performance for 3D however!

Correct. 3D was not the main design criteria. However, it remains true that the Samson II is a rather strong 3D performer (look at the wing loading... 9.8oz/foot!!)

And, No, you will not find a motor package in the world that will outperform the new ZS4025. "Money Back "Guaranteed. On strong 5S lipo with corrrect prop, the model can go from "mild" to ballistic 3D...

Thanks David. And I know some guys will still try!

OK, I actually did not catch the ZS, thats the new motors that are more powerfull right? I was comparing a Z4025, which I don't think would give quite the power that many want for 3D. Do you have the data yet on the ZS motors? Were those designed in conjunction with Scorpion? I think you said somthing like that in another post somewhere.

Thanks - Chris

Joe

Wolf Samson II should be arriving at distributors worldwide on about May 1st, so at shops around May 7~10 I would guess.

Cheers

That was off the top of my head. Looked at a few setups and ours are running 8.2~8.8 lbs depending on 5S/6S and battery capacity. I think it may be possible to get it down to under 8 lbs with a careful build and 3300~3700mAh lipo.
