Depending on where it comes out, you can make s-curves on the fuse if you don't want something dragging from the back of the plane. Tack it on with some hotglue or tape.

Who is thinking about putting an Eflight Power 52 on this plane?

A Power 52 is a lot of motor for this plane. You'd need to run at least 5s, if not 6s pack, adding even more weight. A Power 46 would be fine, propped up with a 4s pack. A 13x8 would be good or a 12 or 13x10 for more speed. A 12x8 on 5s would really cook.
The recommended Rimfire .46 is a actually a great fit for this plane. It flies well on 4s and when I add a 5s, it's plenty fast! Where do you fly? Do you have this plane yet? Come on out to Marymoor sometime and you can see how mine does. |

OK.....some of us are "mentally Challenged" and also need to let the world know....so here goes....
The fuse width is about 3 inches......so what if I separated the wings about 2 1/2 inches and covered the gap on the bottom with balsa or something lightweight. The wingspan would now be 55 inches and the wing area would be increased by 2.5" x 9.5" or about 23 sq. in. to 506....(26.18 wing load)... now it's about 27.4.....it's supposed to be 24 to 26.... Mine is a heavy 5lb 12oz.....would an extra 23sq. in. help?? SlowGrits |

I maidened my escapade today. .46 ox ax engine. It was kinda tought to taxi in the grass with the stock tail wheel, I will prob upgrade that and I did glue on the tail as others have. I put the battery velcro-ed on top of the fuel tank as it would not fit under the wing. I went from a trianer (which I crashed) to this and found that they flew very similar from my newbie point of view. It was pretty gusty and I thought I might put it in the same tree that claimed my tower hobbie trainer, but got it back in one piece, Good times!

I bought one, and had a lot of trouble with it.
Servos mounted right over the wing have very little room. I had a lot of trouble seating the wing (wing seats got in the way of servo torque rods). Flying, the plane was always a handful -- fast, and you have to watch it turning -- you can stall it pretty easily. This is a plane that the nitro guys would have called a good low wing trainer 30 years ago. But at today's standards, it's a poor performer. In comparison, I bought a 58" $99 P-51 from (I think) hobby4less, and put a Power 46 motor in it. It was MUCH easier to fly than the Escapade! The P-51 penetrated, went where I pointed it, and slowed down to land better than the Escapade. I think that the Escapade should be permanently retired from the product line. There are much, much better flying planes out there, even if they are not called trainers. |

wuest, I totally disagree. I have been flying mine since it very first came out and it is the best flying plane I have had in a long time. Yes it can be fast, but it slows down nicely and has no bad flying characteristics. If you had put the servos in the wings, you would not have had the linkage problems. It is a good second plane for those who have mastered their high wing trainers.

Maybe you got a dud with a warped wing or something. The stall characteristics of mine are great. It will eventually drop a wing on me, but not before plenty of warning. I also recommend doing two wing servos, although the torque rods don't get in the way on mine, so I don't know what to tell you there. Like Reaper said - it's a great second or third plane. It's built like a tank. I have abused the crap out of mine and it still keeps flying great.
