"Scratch-Build-Off 3"-- Me 309

Hi guy's, this will be my first scratch build, so any suggestions and thoughts as we go along here will be appreciated, I'm sure I'll need it.
Thanks goes out to a few guys here on RCG for inspiring me to just do it, so after making a few practice CAD models, I decided on the Me-309, something a little different, and shooting for a wingspan around 35 in.
So far just the CAD model is done and to my liking, and I simplified the shape a little to hopefully make an easier build , we'll see. I'll get to work on chopping up The CAD model and keep you posted.

Here's a few picks to start things off.

Thanks guys, I not sure about landing gear, but the drop-down radiator is a must, or at least I'll give it a good try .
I have a lot of catching up to do, but about a week or so to dissect the CAD model and make some files for laser cutting, it'll be tight.

I'm thinking of giving it a little more wing area too, so it'll slow down some .

This was my second choice- XP-40.

Roscoe--you dirty dog!! You're a SolidWorks maniac!

The Me 309 is looking awesome already. Have fun with the deconstruction. At the rate you're going you should have no problem getting this off the ground by the end of May.

It looks like a P-39 Airacorbra.

Thanks Paul, I have you to thank for getting me going... I figured that "Cool Cat" of yours needed something to chase around the skies.

Cool pick! It'll be a handy size, too.

Just a suggestion, change the category of the thread to "contest." It's easier to find the contest threads this way!

To slow down, you may be able to use the radiator as an airbrake, if its dirty enough.

The wing tanks look like a great place to hide things, flap and aileron servos.

Cool project and awesome CAD work!

Is it drawn in Solidworks?

If you will not use the landing gear, and land it on the radiator, it will slow down pretty hard when landing. I do this with my Mig/Dewoitine/Macchi. See this video for example http://video.google.nl/videosearch?q...02&emb=0&aq=f#
This can be very handy when you're flying on a smaller field and the plane needs to stop quickly.

Succes on your build
