A new #16 camera designated as version 3 (V3) is being readied for sale immediately that has a re-designed circuit board to add new functionality similar to it's full HD Mobius brother:
- The auto-record function now works either with the Power Button, or connection of external +5V USB power.
- The special video out cable harness (with pin #4 grounded) now toggles the video out function rather than a firmware switch in the config file. The video out cable harness is now the same as the Mobius cable. See the attached image for the new video out cable pinouts.
- The camera will now auto-connect as a USB drive (with SD card) or webcam (with no SD card) as soon as the cable is connected to a PC USB port (no power button press needed).
- A new toggle in the config file can enable/disable the PC USB charging function if desired.
A picture of the new circuit board in it's case is attached for the technically curious or for those who want to know if their camera is a V3 just by opening the case to taking a look.
Needless to say, the FW and GUI to change the user toggles is different. The new FW is v1.12 and comes in both MOV and AVI versions. The AVI format is still the "non-standard" version that needs conversion before it can be edited. There is still a difference in the frame rate options between these two versions. The 5 fps setting plays back at 5 fps as you would expect with the AVI version, but the MOV version video plays back at 30 fps while the audio plays at 5 fps so is completely out of sync. Video editing is needed to deal with this. Also, the AVI version can record at 25 fps whereas the MOV version cannot. The issues with the MOV version are in the low level developers tool kit supplied by the DSP chip manufacturer, so cannot be corrected by firmware changes at this point. The new FW is now available for download in post #3 here, and it will work with older V1 and V2 cameras, but you will not get any of the new functionality listed above.

is necessary to set the function toggles on a PC. It will work with all versions of the #16 as well as the Mobius camera. The old Nr16Setup GUI with foreign language translations
will no longer work with this new FW, so please
download the mSetup.exe GUI here.
Also, a new Android device configuration utility authored by Therau2000 is
now available here for this new FW, though I don't have an Android device for testing it.
