My landing gear design for the EP BP Cub is working very well. Addition of the "shock absorber" mechanism to the CF cross brace has made all the difference. The gear does not want to depart the airplane on a hard landing now...a verrrry nice feature.

Here are some stills from recent video on the BP Cub. The sequence where the entire gear assembly departs the airframe is kind of funny to watch, especially when my kids run over to the airplane to see why the wheels went flying. Since then I have had 40 landings on thick grass with excellent results. Maybe I'm on to something.... or maybe that 60+ year old design on the full scale Cub really works after all.

Playing with the Aerocam on the Extra. Got some great pictures yesterday while I had one on each wingtip, pointed toward the canopy. On the next flight, I put the flycam pointing toward the tailwheel. Weather was a little breezy at the baseball field, but I managed to get in a few flights before the first T'storm hit. Would be flying today, but same pattern, Level 3 storms moving from SW to NE right over the field. Enjoy.

I love this E-Extra 330S 41" w.s. from Great Planes. With the recommended power setup from Tower Hobbies, Electrifly, has ample power. 3S 11.1V 2100 mah from Electrifly and two are EVO lite power.

Now to learn aerobatics for real....

My BP Cub has been such a great little airplane for almost a year now...I love everything about it except the landing gear, until now. It's a little tall for scale, but it should be quite an improvement over the wire gear setup that comes in the box. It lasted all this time with many repairs, but it was time to create what I've been contemplating ever since I opened that box to build her.

One change I've made since taking these pix was to cut the crossmember CF and add fuel tubing to add some shock absorbtion.

The Dubro 3" foam tires are big, and again the stance is taller, but I think it works well. Now gotta make sure the skis will mount. :-)
