2011 Build Season Starts.........
I am starting a Top-Flite, P-47 RB (razor back) 1/8 scale with a 63" ws, and a T-F Spitfire Mk IX 1/7 scale with ~63" ws. I found the cost of the kits in respect to getting plans, cuttung balsa and ply, + all the other preform parts, well worth just getting the kit. I will add some extra detail, NAV lights, scale cockpit, etc. There are lots of good build threads out there, for most of the Scale War Birds. I am building this size of plane because I do not, as yet, have an enclosed trailer, (mobile hanger), to transport RC planes in. This would be nice as I try to go to 6-8 Fun Flies each year. The SUV (Sport Utility VAN ) will have to make do. South-Western Ontario is a good area for RC clubs, and I am right in the center.
I have had good luck on Ebay getting plans for planes, like a BT 70" Hurricane. It is hard to find good (cheap) scale Hurricane kits, this side of the pond....Continue Reading
