We were almost rained out this weekend. It rained in the morning until after Noon. Eventually it cleared and we crawled up through the mud and rain puddles up to the top. We had a few minutes of a North breeze and then no wind. Basically it was another electric day. After an hour of flying we packed up and headed down to Peachtree.

Saturday was the first day I’ve seen in years in which we had no wind whatsoever. I had brought a new member up and I remembering apologizing to him several times, that this was a fluke and normally we have a slight breeze of some sort this time of year. As you might guess, it was hand launch and electrics day only. I can only hope for better next week (although looking at this Saturday’s forecast it looks like more of the same…ugh!).

Another Saturday I could have probably missed out on. Very light wind and thunder storms on all sides. Everyone else had the same thought, since only three of us showed up, Larry, Buck and me. The lightning and rain finally drove us off the hill at 1:40 PM and we headed down to the Peachtree for lunch.

PS Larry L shot most of the pics. Thanks for the assist Larry.

Saturday was as hot as last week. Thankfully, had a bit more wind in the NE bowl. Actually got a few slopers up. Once you got a couple hundred feet up, there were great thermals. Eventually, we had a wind shift at 1 PM and we had to shift to the East slope. By then we had a steady 10 mph breeze and things were just starting to get interesting when we had to leave.
Praying for more wind next week,
Mike
PS Kit and Larry are “off the sick list”. They’ve starting to come up a lot more. Now Bill is joining “the sick list” for a couple months. Hopefully he’ll be back by the end of the summer....Continue Reading
