The wind returns! Just what the doctor ordered, we had 15mph winds directly out of the East. Definitely a sloper day. Plenty of great combat and some awesome speed runs.
Also, next week is FSS #2 thermal duration contest in Ocala, FL. The Pompano Hill Flyers sponser and operate this event. So I and several other club members will be up there “working” the event. Hope to see a big crowd at Kenny World! https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1868204

Lots of people up this weekend. We had large groups of flyers on the West side and the SE bowl. Again (like last Saturday) it was not a “big wind” weekend, with only a 7-8mph wind in the SE bowl. It was a typical Saturday, flyers winching in the morning on the Westside. Then moving to the windward side to slope with the rest of the “crew” after 12pm. Flying was congested at times, with the light air driving flyers to cling to the slope edge to keep flying. Surprising, considering the conditions, we had only one major mid-air, ouch.

Saturday turned out pretty pitiful. No wind, rain threatening, and buggy. We hung around the West side hoping for any wind. By noon our prayers were answered. We shifted to the SE bowl as a breeze built up. Actually got some decent slopeing in before calling it a day.

Luckily April showers did not bring May flowers. We had a clear day for our first weekend in April. While part of the club was up at the FSS #1 TD Contest in Christmas, https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...1841776&page=4, the rest of us enjoyed some good North winds. We actually flew from 2 areas, the NW corner and the NE bowl. Because Waste Management was celebrating Earth day we were allowed to stay until 4PM. So we got good winds, great weather and extra hours......a great day!

Saturday was another hot and dusty day. The air was more thermal generated wind than “wind”. It stayed at 10mph out of the East with cycles of up and down lift. You either had great lift or terrible sink, very little of anything in between. For some odd reason we had a huge crowd, I counted about 18 vehicles and 20 flyers. Enjoy the pics. Also, many thanks to Amos for sending me some shots....Continue Reading
