Hi!

Some time ago I have bought an ExpertRC RF Power Meter and would like to share with you since its great!
This is an opensource project started in Russia by a guy called Redsonic.
At the very beginning I would like to thank him for his work on developing this.
The video review can be found here (ENGLISH SUBTITLES):
Alternatywa dla ImmersionRC - ExpertRC Opensource RF Power Meter! (7 min 55 sec)

In the box we will get the RF Power Meter, coax cable, 30db attuenator and 2 SMA adapters.

1. As you can see from the review the device isnt a professional/lab unit and sometimes the readings are a little off.
Then again with the ImmersionRC power meters it was exactly the same (and immersion costs 3 times more...)

Besides that this device has more modes:
2. Its a helping hand in tuning your DIY antenas - the same like ImmersionRC, this mode, for me is not finished and more of a fun perk, than and actual help.
3. The device can work as a vtx finder. - this one is straight out amazing - as lond as your VTX is working you have a really good chance of finding your aircraft.
4. Full screen mode in which we can check if our TX is working and if its sending data all the time or in packs/bundles.
5. Calibration menu - not mentioned in the video review - if we have some professional equipement we can recalibrate our unit (comes calibrated, but still we can do it if we want).

Here you can find a short video comparison of the results with the ImmersionRC Power Meter:
RF Power Meter - Expert RC vs. Immersion - Porównanie wyników. (4 min 11 sec)

More about this device on ExpertRC.com (written in Russian):
https://goo.gl/Ca1vwH

If you would be interested here is Redsonic's ebay shop:
https://goo.gl/zDEL7R

I think that becouse the price is 3 times smaller and the functionality is 2 times bigger, this device is a great alternative for those that need an easy way to check their TX's.
I'm really happy with my unit and hope that Redsonic will not stop and will still update this device in future.

Not so long ago I have made a simple thrust stand from a ready components: https://goo.gl/0kYhEA.
Its quite good, but I wanted something more, and CHEAPER!!

I bought:
1. Arduino Mega 2560 https://goo.gl/nLMQwQ
2. 2.8 Touch TFT Shield https://goo.gl/ILwXbp
3. APM Power Module https://goo.gl/5AubbM
4. HX711 Module + 20kg Load Cell https://goo.gl/5Z9Uy9
5. MPU-6050 3 Axis Gyro With Accelerometer Sensor Module https://goo.gl/iHrwRe
6. TCRT5000 Infrared Reflective Switch https://goo.gl/tTu5zo

Thanks for your support if you buy any of these items!

for a total of: 44,19USD
Still need to make the mechanics, but I don't think they will be more than 10-15USD.

In the end for the price of the RC Lander Thrust Stand https://goo.gl/RQI4uE @ 61USD,
we have a fully operational, customizable and much better solution for around 15 bucks less
(for RC Lander we still need a Watt meter https://goo.gl/o7d96b , servo tester and a 5V power source so lets say another 5-10USD).

When everything arrived I started playing with Arduino.
This is my first Arduino based DIY project.
I have no experience in programming whatsoever so, its not progressing as fast as I would like it to and the code is probably far from optimal, but after 2 weeks I have a fully functional thrust stand.

You can see the basic functions on the video below (I will update this video...Continue Reading

Wow,
Thanks to Gearbest I have received this FuriBee F90 brushed quad for testing.
I have it for one day and must say that it became my favorite brushed from the third flight (after some pid tuning ).
Quad can be found here: https://goo.gl/dRU8v9
Note: The above links are affiliate links.
It doesn’t cost you any extra money to use them, and gives me a few cents back when you do.
Thanks for your support if you buy any of these items!

This is a 2s quad, so for a brushed it has a ton of power!
Paired with the supplied propguards, from now this is my first choice for training during rainy/snowy days.
I did review a jjpro t2 not so long ago and the difference between 1s and 2s is amazing.
Betaflight ready, so you can upload your favorite firmware
You can choose between DSM and FrSky Versions.

It does look a little ridiculous and kinda toy like, but don't be deceived!
This is quite nice piece of machinery under the bee/wasp (which one is this?) chassis.

Since I recently received some motors for testing I went shopping to make the tests more comprehensive.
Decided to build a simple thrust measuring stand and bought:

RC Lander Measuring stand: https://goo.gl/RQI4uE
G.T. Power 150A Power Analyzer: https://goo.gl/o7d96b

and a cheap Servo tester https://goo.gl/MQnE7m

After combining all that, I've got a finished device.

Here you can see my short review on the functions and quality of the above products:
(Remember to turn on the English Subtitles).
Hamownia Silników RC - Recenzja GT Power 150A i RC Lander Thrust Stand (4 min 5 sec)

This is also a "Call to arms"
If you have any motors and props that you would like to test, then please let me know, here or on youtube and I will try to make it happen

After completing this stand I realized that I'm too lazy to use it in this form and want it to be automatic.
I have already started my research on this subject, so you can expect a "how to" video on making a much better thrust stand using arduino in nearest future.

Note: The above links are affiliate links.
It doesn’t cost you any extra money to use them, and gives me a few cents back when you do.
Thanks for your support if you buy any of these items!

Stay tuned

Lately I've been collecting parts for my new racing quad.
I have read a ton of reviews and test on current low budget frames and finally picked one.
Few hours ago I have received the GEP ZX4 frame.

I bought this one from Banggood:
ZX4' : https://goo.gl/fm3gC1
ZX5': https://goo.gl/gKVzCZ
Arms and other spare parts: https://goo.gl/omEINZ

but Hobbyking also sells them:
ZX4' : https://goo.gl/wTEzeJ
ZX5': https://goo.gl/bo4GDq

Both GepRC and BG customer service confirmed that both ZX4 and ZX5 are the same and its really all up to you if you want to go for 4 or 5 inch propellers since arm lenght is the only thing that changes.

I must say that it really amazed me how stiff and well manufactured it is, compared to my zmr and qav frames!!!

You can check my thoughts about those two on the video below.
(Remember to turn on English Subtitles).

Also here are some photos of a assembled frame:

Another review of a cool and durable fly in home quad that you can buy from GearBest:

T2 is a VEEEEERRRY durable quad, but with the durability comes the weight.
The frame itself is 14g, compared to 6-7g standard ones.
You will feel this additional weight when flying.
For beginners its a great quad that you can upgrade with a lighter frame, when get more advanced.
If you already know how to fly then I would suggest you to get the T1 version.
After PID tunning this quad is very responsive and agile, making it perfect for indoor and also outdoor flights (when there's no wind ofcourse).

Check it out on GB website!

Again thanks to courtesy of Banggod.com I have received a set of those budget motors for tests and review.

The motors look well manufactured and are really good balanced,.
Balance wise they perform similar to Cobras and Airbot 2205's.
These motors are optimized for 4 inch prop and will be thrust tested soon.

Check out my video review to learn more about them.
As always the video is in Polish, but you can turn on the English Subtitles.
