This weekend, the funniest thing happened….

For some reason a bird has decided that it is its job to defend the airspace above our pond. It is quite the interceptor and can climb rapidly to catch my brushless Stryker if I am flying at half throttle or less. The flying skill of this bird is quite impressive as it dives in for several “scratches” on the wings. The only way to loose it is to do a loop or accelerate away…. but if you ever slow down the bird is BACK AGAIN!! It can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity or remorse or fear, and it absolutely will not stop-EVER, until my plane is dead!!

From the ground, it looks very close, but once I saw this video, I was amazed at exactly how close the bird actually was! I hope it never gets caught up in the propeller!

Anyone have an idea as to what kind of bird this is? It is white on the bottom and black on the top. It can hover in mid air over my mower and catch bugs that I scare up.... like I said it is QUITE the impressive flyer!

I attended the "Jets Over the Heartland" show in Winamac, IN today. As was the case last year, it was an awesome event, and it was even sweeter this year because I could take my wife and 8 month old son with me!!

Here are some pictures I took:...Continue Reading

Well I finally got some time to edit videos since the weather around here has been a bit too breezy lately.

Here is my brushless stryker video:

and my onboard video with the modified Speed Vee (unedited). Check out when I almost hit our ducks! I had a dry deck until they went into "panic move" mode.

I have always been fascinated with all types of sea planes, and finally got around to building my own for the first time.

The GWS slow Stick kit and GWS float kit went together very easily, and worked like a charm on the pond this weekend. A slight breeze makes on the water handling a bit interesting, but nothing beats slowly lifting off the water and seeing small drops of water falling from the floats as you climb out.......Continue Reading

Over the winter, I have been working building a brushless stryker based on the hundreds of posts found here on rcgroups. My final build includes the following:

MEGA 16-15-4 Motor
TP 3 Cell 2100 mAh "Pro Lite" pack
(2) Hitec HS-81MG Metal Gear Micro Servos
Hitec HFS-05MS 5-Channel SC Micro Receiver
Hitec Focus 3 Tx

I am working on some videos, but at present I just have some screen shots.
