Now my frustration has turned into down right depression! Not only was Sunday the perfect day to fly and I did not, now I am sitting here at work for the second day in a row watching the beautiful flying weather pass me by while I sit here at my desk and the forecast for this weekend is cold, windy, and rainy! And of course I am travelling for Turkey day so no opportunities there.

It is so bad that I am actually considering leaving the hobby, knowing that pretty quick I won't even be able to fly a coax at this rate! I am even finding myself avoiding the forums.

Today was the perfect day for flying, about 60 degrees, sunny, and zero wind! Unheard of this time of year and the first non-windy, no rain weekend in over a month yet I could not fly because I had other outdoor work to get done before the weather turns sour for the winter.

Hopefully we can get one more nice weekend day like this seeing as it is dark by the time I get home from work.

So being the newbie I am, my skills are still lacking and muscle memory not where it needs to be (complicated by age! ) so I find that as the weather has turned sour, preventing outdoor flight coupled with less daylight, my piloting skills are deteriorating rapidly.

After breaking the tail on my Nano flying it indoors, I am now hesitent to fly it indoors and am relying solely on the sim. That being not as fun as real stick time, I find myslelf only getting on the sim once or twice a week for a few minutes at a time. So now I am quickly losing the few skills and little bit of muscle memory I had achieved.

This hobby continues to exhilirate yet at the same time frustrate me! Just when I feel I am making progress, I take a step backwards and think I just can't get this and I should give it up.

Well got my replacement tail shaft and motor for the Nano and installed it today. While not exactly hard, it was difficult to plug it into the board due to limited space. Wound up loosening the board to create enough space.

Hoping to fly it tomorrow, time permitting.

So here goes, my first shot at a blog!

My initial plan for my maiden flight on the 130X was to wait until I had sufficient stick time on the Nano to get better at CP and a nice calm day to fly outside, plus by then my extra batteries should have arrived. I told myself I could even wait until Spring if need be.

Well, the anticipation was killing me and yesterday I had to try her. The plan was just to hover her enough to say I had flown her then return her back to the box, back on plan. Well, let's just say I should have stuck to my original plan! I got her up about 2 feet off the floor when she started coming back at me. Seeing as my back was up against the small refrigerator, my instinct kicked in and I stuck my leg out to prevent her from hitting it. BIG mistake, I now have a nice red welt on my thigh. I then hit TH and she dropped to the floor, snapping the vertical tail fin in half. Now I know why everyone said to add a strip of CF to it.

Hopefully there is no other damage and I am sticking to the original plan.
