Yeah ! Those Emails from Hobbyking are killing me !
I have wanted a DLG for the longest time , a smaller one for the local parks .
And would you just know it , HK had the Mini DLG pro on sale .. @ $65.50 Ozzi Bananas ( ? $50 USD ) and that Free Postage
That free postage is a hook I tells you , and they are landing this fish with it .

If HK keeps this up , I am going to have to block their emails ( Flash sales )

Whats in the mail

Warlark 80mm FPV Quad
FrSky Taranis Q x7
IRX4 Plus multi protocol module
FuriBee H801
FPV Goggles
Mini DLG pro

I think ( I hope ) my Xmas is pretty much covered ...
I am probably doing rather well for toys this year , so I just need to put the wallet back in the holster !

( Just all those 50% off sales )

It was time to open up the transmitter :

There are some 6 screws that need to come out from the back .
The case sort of snaps shut so you need to be a little forceful opening ..
But use care as there are a few short wires , so do not try to separate the covers .
Just carefully open and you can get about a 90deg opening happening .

I had to open mine to adjust the throttle tension ( way to soft / lose ) as tweaking the rudder also meant tweaking the throttle ( not something you want in a confined space )

We have had thunder storms / wind roll through the last couple of days so been pretty much confined to the shoe box as far as flying goes ( Micro's are good for this ) .

This is the last post until the quad gets here ( futaba Rx ) so hopefully I will be binding a new model to the Tx and letting you guys know how it goes ..

The transmitter is certainly interesting I have to say .
Where was I ? Thats right Exponential ..
This transmitter offers + and - Expo ... So obviously I had to see what did what ..

I went both - 40 and +40 ...

-40 really does seem to soften the middle ...
+40 seems to jack up the middle ( make it more sensitive )

So at the moment I am running +40 Expo , and 80% rates on the lower rate and 100% rates on the higher ..
It does not appear that you can set Expo independently like you can with rates .. ( This is a shame )

I hope to bind a quad to this transmitter when it arrives .
I am just tweaking the K110 for the best possible hover and feel ( Tx settings ) at the moment , but it is really behaving rather well in the 6 axis mode as I sort it out .

To get the feel I want around center stick , yeah +40 on the expo .. That small dead zone where nothing happens is a bit of a bummer as I generally like smaller stick movements when hovering . Especially in a small room where 50cm in any direction might = some sort of impact . Desk / bed / chair / TV or me .

There are some really good points to this transmitter and a few negative points .

1) Even though it is a feature packed Tx , it is cheaply made
2) And the cheapness shows as soon as you begin to use the transmitter ..

I will start with the gimbals as a lot of people have become very gimbals demanding . I can understand that when you pay a thousand dollars or more you pretty much want perfection , especially from the gimbals . Recently it would seem folks are demanding more from the budget transmitters and I have to say it looks like some manufacturers are coming to the party ( FrSky for one ) .

When I first flew the XK K110 it was very mushy around neutral ( center ) stick . The reason for that is that there does appear to be a dead zone right around center stick . So you can try and make minor adjustments and nothing really happens .

XK transmitter (0 min 52 sec)

I am not sure if you can tell in the video , but the gimbals are a lot like say ones in a transmitter where the gimbals have worn . ( This is a new Tx after all )
This does tend to take away from the ability to be more precise in confined spaces and for me resulted in some bumping and scaring on the rotor blades .
At lower rates the transmitter just did not cut it for me . At the moment I am running 100% and no expo for the lower rate and 110% and no expo for the higher rate .
Lowest Rate setting = 0
Highest Rate setting = 125

Expo looks interesting :
You have both positive and...Continue Reading

The very second the K110 lifted off the ground I had this massive moment of Deija Vu that made me almost lose control of the K110 . Well moments later I hit something in anyway which brought on more Deija Vu . I had this eerie feeling that I had done this before , but how was that possible ? And then it hit me like a brick through a glass plate window ( James Bond ) . I had done this before , with my Super CP . The XK K100 was flying and handling almost exactly the same as my Super CP from (?) almost half a decade ago . ( I failed to break mine )

My initial impression was that the K110 was very mushy around neutral stick ( center ) , rates @ stock were 80% with 20% Expo .. And after lowering rates and lowering expo ( 75% Rates - 5% Expo ) , it was still very mushy feeling around center stick . ( Yes I bounced the K110 off a few things in the very limited space I was hovering in ) . I gave up and just switched to 100% rates and no Expo .. Much better ! The problem with mushy controls is that the K110 is very lively and once it starts to move you really want to stay on top of it or else it will bounce off something before you get a chance to do anything .

In no way shape would I say the K110 is noob friendly , not even as a second model . In 6 axis mode it is capable of covering a lot of ground in one second and unless you are heli familiar you just might keep the spare parts sellers in business . Now there are a few things I don't care for in 6...Continue Reading

KK90B = King Kong 90mm Brushed ( 2s )

Lets start with my DSMx Sat Rx .. I could not get it to work .. Because I had not ticked Serial Rx in UART2 ( It was that simple ) ...

My second issue was arming the quad , and for this to occur the throttle end point needs to be lower than the minimum throttle value ..

king kong 90mm brushed (1 min 28 sec)

Did I mention I got me a 90mm 2s Brushed .. was waiting on the Rx and battery .

Battery is a little 250mAh 2s
Rx is a DSMx 11ms Satellite ( Would not bind DSM2 ) off Ebay .. ( Was cheap )
Apparently the quad is a King Kong 90mm Brushed ( 2s )
Way too much for indoor use , though it hovers really nice . ( I should add some expo around the center )
One of the switches on the Tx toggles between horizon and angle modes ( I will stick with horizon for now )

I am thinking I should try a 350mAh 2s ...

Well , my first problem was the USB cables I have , none seemed to work . Well , until the very last one I tried . ( That was a time waster I can tell you )

The second problem I had was getting the DSMx Sat Rx to work ( yes ) . So simple , yet frustrating . ( Lots of youtube video watched ) .

Third and final problem was arming the motors . Seems the throttles end point was stopping the FC from arming due to some safety feature ...
I will do another post with my settings ( Cleanflight ) ..

I have to say , the last two days . I was Schooled !

Aside from the three problems that were like applying a hand break , it was relatively pain free ( well .... except for the PAIN )

But seriously , it seems to handle really well ( except for the power ) . The 2s seems to really make this quad a little lively , and I am not sure it would be good indoors . I will have to go somewhere with some space and see if I can't FPV ( why I got it ) ... Might even have to set up dual rates , mild / wild .

What a day !
Its Warm very warm ( 34deg C )
And my antenna came , 2 meter / 70cm base station antenna ( 8 foot Tram )

I was so proud of myself when it was assembled and up on its pole ..
Oh the disappointment when there was no transmit signal ( could not activate a repeater ) ...

So down it came , I put a new PL 259 on the coax ( cable was a little lose ) and re-assembled the Tram .. Back up it went and VIOLA !
Near perfect SWR , what more could one ask for .

Also in the post was my DSM2 Rx for my 90mm 2s Brushed FPV quad , but Im a little Fukujima right now .. That sun burns !
So I will hit that another day .

I did spend some , the folks at GB had some items on sale that tickled my interest ..
And its funny how some things work out some times ... Both these are Futaba S-FHSS ....
So that means I can play : I can play with my IrangeX multi protocol module and I can play with the XK transmitter ..
Strange , the XK transmitter sells for around $50 or more , so I wonder ?
I think this is my Christmas pretty much taken care off , not going to do what I did last year .. Time to put a cork in the spending .

Eachine E58 Crash Highlights (1 min 21 sec)

Well its been windy , and as I have slowly learned the E58 does not really like windy conditions ..
Just yesterday we had a strong wind warning ( expected 50mph winds ) ..

Not really good weather for RC unless your into cars / buggies ( your probably laughing ) ...
So just posting some of the onboard crash footage ..

Ok , I have the app on my phone ...
I hate the google app store ( sorry ) , but I find it a PITA .
Now I fired up my Wifi , connected my phone and tried to download the app ( nope )

I reset my phone to Fact Default ( deleting all apps etc not stock )
And Google refused to allow me to try and download again saying the app was installed Google ...

https://www.apkmonk.com/download-app...017-08-22.apk/
https://apkpure.biz/com.lewei.jyufo/JY-UFO/download

Try one of these links for the app :

So with the app installed I simply fired up the phones Wifi , connected to the drones Wifi and then started the app .
Yes we have video

Now I did try to fly the E58 via my android phone My recommendation is dont .. ( for me it sucked beef chunks )
Unfortunately you need the app to turn on the video recording , and for 720 its not bad .

I need some decent weather , windy as all outdoors at the moment .
