I'm testing a custom frame design by a friend of mine. Goes by WoooSaaaW here on the Groups. It's a stretched X design and so far I'm really liking it. Check it out and please subscribe if you enjoy the content

Today was the first day in like a month that i was free to fly and it wasn't raining. Being that I live in California and we've been in a serious drought for like forever, I'm happy it's been raining nonstop but man I haven't flown in almost a month and i had the itch.
I updated my Helix to Betaflight 3.1 and set it up for DShot, ( I've been testing the Alpha builds, but now the master version was out ) and headed to my local park. Flew a couple warm up packs when the cops showed up. Turns out they weren't there for me but rather a dog walker reported a sleeping homeless persons. After they checked on him they came to say hello. I ended up taking them for a FPV ride along. They had a blast and it was nice to show them what responsible flying was like. Here's a video of today's antics

I'm lucky enough to have a decent flying spot right across the street from me ( literally ) , a school field. My wife came home from running errands today and said she noticed some guys flying there. Most of my RC friends fly planes so I don't often get to fly quads with others. I told the wife I'd be back in a bit and grabbed my FPV backpack. I went over and introduced myself. The guys were super nice, and I ended up flying a half dozen packs while talking all things quads.
Here's a video from today's session.

I was lucky enough to get a set of prototype 35 deg HD camera plates. The guys at ImpulseRC made a post on the Helix forum in response to people asking for an update on when the plates would be available. They gave away two to the guys that had asked and three more to the next three people posting interest. I was one of the latter.
I recieved my plates today so i figured I'd make a video detailing the new plates and their installation. ImpulseRC did a great job addressing some minor issues and improving on the 45 deg plates.

All my flying buddies were busy today, so I decided to drive around and look for new flying spots. Found one that might be kinda cool.

I love flying RC , I started out building video photography multirotors before it was popular. I had nobody to fly with so I took up RC airplanes like the rest of my friends. When that no longer became challenging I dusted off my soldering iron and built my first racing style FPV quad. The speed and freedom of quad flight is unlike anything else. Shortly thereafter I was hooked. I'm happy to admit I'm addicted. I love making videos of mine and my friends flights. It's an awesome creative outlet for me. I decided to take my videos to another level and try doing some VLOG style. Please take a look and leave a comment.

There's something about the flight in this video that stuck with me that day. Everything just felt right. Maybe it was because it was a quiet morning at our club field so I didn't have to worry about other pilots in the air. What ever the case was it was a fun morning. I hope the video reflects the feeling I was having.

Had the day off so what better to do then go fly. I've decided to start filming some extra "b" roll so I can edit my videos with more than just flight video. Just trying to mix it up and have some fun

Flew my mini quad at my club meet up. Got this quad tuned and flying pretty well on Betaflight 2.9.0 with Multishot. I swear every time I think it's flying well, Boris B releases a new Betaflight version and I can't help but update. And everyone it gets better and better. While all my quad videos have been kinda a best of clips from all my flights on a particular day, this time I've been trying to get a "flow"'going on all my flights. The goal is each video flight is uncut. My acro skills are definelty still new and learning , for me this pushes me to try and make my flights fluid from trick to trick. Each battery flown is like one big trick.

I bought a new FMS v8 P-51 Mustang to replace my crashed Corsair. The Corsair was a great plane up until the wing broke apart mid air and upon crashing started a small lipo Fire. My point is that it left a void in my hanger since it was my only 1400mm size plane. I flew my smaller fleet for a few months but really missed something larger. Did some homework and finally settled on a FMS 1450mm P-51.
I had a tough time deciding between a B or D model and it ultimately came down two criteria : Blue nose and weither the custom nose art I was planning would work.

I ended up choosing the D model Petie the 2nd. It had the blue nose , the Petie 2nd logo looked the easiest to change to what i wanted , and had a sliding canopy for the cool factor.

Nose Art:
I wanted to do something different than the handful of mustang schemes that are available. I started searching the Internet, first stop was Callie Graphics. She had a great selection of mustang decal kits but nothing quite fit the bill. I started looking at photos of all different wartime nose art I could find . I had just about given up when I saw the perfect one. "My Achin' Back"
Now this is perfect for a few reasons. I first got into this hobby after recovering from two back surgeries, so I know a thing or two about an aching back
It had a pinup girl on it which represented my wife as I was trying to incorporate her, ( when the wife lets you drop $300 + on a new plane, she deserved to be on the plane ) and...Continue Reading
