So far I've been pretty impressed by the bones of the kit. There are a few items that had to be replaced on my kit:
- Canopy - Made of brittle plastic
- Main Shaft - Wobbles
- Skids - Too rubbery
- Main Gear - Out of round
Replace for Good Measure:
- Feathering Shaft
- Ball Link Ends
- Tail Boom - Check to make sure that the one included in your kit is not bent by rolling it on a table or counter top.
- Front TT Umbrella Gears
Here are the electronics that I will be using:
- Scorpion HK-4025-1100
- Castle ICE 100
- Castle BEC Pro
- 3x Futaba S3010 Align DS610
- 1x Phoenixtech DS602M Align DS650
- Align 3G Spektrum AR7200BX + DSMX Sat.
- Spektrum 7000 + Sat.
Now on to the build!
The first thing that I did was to tear the main frame apart to check the screws. As expected, they were not thread locked... But whatever, thats why we take these things apart!
So next I started to test fit the motor to the mount plate. Since my motor is oversized, the plate must be modified.

I love my FlySky GT3B, but I hated the fact that it takes 8 AA batteries, so I modified it to accept a 3S LiPo instead.
The modification is super easy... Just take the controller apart by removing the 5 screws on the side and 2 screws on the top near the screen. and then slowly remove the side by sliding the antenna down and out of the case.
Yank the crappy battery box out and cut the red and black wires right at the box. Solder on a Female JST Connector and shrink wrap your wires for a professional look.
Inspect all wires to be sure that there are no shorts or cut wires. Reassemble the controller, being careful to route the wires in such a way as to avoid pinching them and also in a way that will help to keep pressure off of them.
I sold this bird after learning to hover on it... I put so much time and effort into it since it was my first build ever... After building and hovering it a few times, I finally crashed. While rebuilding, I decided to upgrade it. This is how it looked when I sold it:
So I've been in this hobby for about a year now of building these helicopters. I have built and hovered a EXI 500, then this HK600GT, and finally a HK450. My favorite of all these builds is my HK600GT. The first time I built this kit, I wound up crashing it immediately(boom strike)... It was a depressing crash that resulted in a pile of crap...
Fast forward six months and I get the urge to rebuild the 600... So I set out to use better, more expensive parts. So I buy all Align parts to rebuild the machine.
