For new pictures and video visit:

I have been testing some film I found at the Dollar Store.
6 or 8 foot roll for $1. The stuff shrinks easily, very light weight, and sticks to the foam really well with a little 3M77. If your local dollar store does not carry the product (see video) you may order it online site to store.
Cheap way to cover any foamie instead of packing tape or to cover a built up balsa project.
I pounded the crap out of my test piece playing the drums with my kids this weekend, and not a sign of of tears, peel off, deformation or anything. The color might not be as intense as monokote or others, but it sure looks fantastic for a buck
I will paint some stripes and see how well the paint sticks to the film.
I will post pics of my projects using this covering and report on durability and color fading, or other issues that could develop. It is even cheaper than packing tape!!!

Also found some holographic wrapping that I will test later.
Stay tunned for updates!

Where did the extra $12.56 go? They already charged for a processing fee of $4.24

Figured it might help a few reconsider pushing the Payment key!!!
I order from HK and it works just fine for me.
Why did they ever put a USA warehouse? Does it physically exist? Or is it just a SEO rating stunt???

Hello all.
I purchased a Great planes Fling HLG to keep in the car and teach my kids and wife to fly rc.

Seemed to be a good little hlg for the money, included in the kit is a mini high start.
Opened the box, everything packed nice, in plastic sleeves looked great.
After bringing it home, and removing the wings and control surfaces from their plastic sleeves, I then saw what I had missed. The covering was big wrinkles top and bottom, on both wings and tail feathers.
Back to my LHS and purchased a shrinking Iron.
Back to the house, and about 2 hours to get all the wrinkles out. It looks great now, tight as a drum!

SO: if you get a fling make sure to get a covering iron. Do not leave the store without it! Just make sure to have a little extra cash on hand and open the box and check the kit well. May be you will luck out!
On the fling thread, it seems to be a common issue.

FLING $65 Iron $20 =$85!

GP should put a sticker on the box warning customer to make sure to get a covering Iron before they leave the store. It can be a serious inconvenience for the ones who live in remote areas and have to travel long distance to their local hobby shop.

All that said, It looks like a nice sailplane and I am glad I purchased it!

For those looking for batteries for the fling, I ordered 2 packs, 400 nimh 2/3 AAA from, made to my specs. Great product, shipped one day after the order was placed, perfect with great customer service. I had a brick...Continue Reading

Let it snow, lots of blucore, servos, wires, engines, esc's, new receiver, sodering iron, what could I do with all that?
It was snowing white outside, and it was snowing blue inside as I started a storm of bluecore for 3 days. On day one I build one of my new designs, which I want to try as a slope wing first(this will post as another build) and the next 2 days, a Slofly 26. Syas 28 but mine came out just a tad above 26 inch wingspan.

Z bends with paper clips and carbon rods, and stuck with only 2 sharpies! RED AND BLACK! Other than spendeing 3 hours to get my van and try to make it to the road, These were 2 days of serious building my first slowfly.
AWU stands at just over 8 ounces (not too sure of my scale, but for plane and servos, it registers lower weight than a 3s 1800 lipo.) Resodering new plugs on my 3s 500 lipos, esc to motor, esc plug to battery, etc...
THAT WAS FUN! That is my Xmas present to myself!

Attached pics, and may be a video after I come back from Florida.
I have cut a Surfer Dude, but did not have time to glue it together, when I come back...

I cannot wait to fly her and giver her her soul!!! Thought of adding a single light weight wheel and carbon skids under the wingtip, may be removable floats???

We will see...

Merry Christmas to all, a happy new year.
Wishing you the very best for 2010,
Lafayette....Continue Reading
