It was long time ago since the previous blog post and there was a slow advance in RCModelScout.com functioning.
We added several more stores to the index totaling to 7 so far and improved useful data extraction.
Currently indexed are: Hobby-Lobby, HobbyKing, LowPriceRC, NitroTek, R2Hobbies, RCTimer, ReadyMadeRC and DPCav, Hobbypartz, ngHobbies, GetFPV on its way.
Identified direction where the project should go is adding more stores and focusing a bit more on FPV since there are bunch of stores out there dedicated to FPV equipment only.
Now, this is where I need your help, to identify as more sources of RC online equipment as possible to add to our index.
Also, overall search user experience on http://www.rcmodelscout.com is another thing that needs improvement.
Batteries search by number of cells, C rating, weight is added as well as brushless motors advanced search.
There is also side by side overview of batteries like here.
Drill-down by category is also added, showing only categories on the left side that contain the results of the query.
Is there anything else that can be done to improve overall searching?

You all know how hard it can be to search for just the right battery pack or motor and there are so many places you have go to trough.
Not to mention hardly useable search functionality on some of those online shops making your quest for right equipment even harder.
Well that's over. RCModelScout is RC equipment dedicated search engine with the list of online shops growing rapidly.
What we had in mind is having advanced searching mechanism for various RC equipment from all major online shops.
Most of the equipment is searchable by keywords, like with Google,
but for example in Batteries section, you can filter results by vital attributes such as number of cells, capacity or discharge rate,
and in Electric Motors by KV(RPM/V), input voltage range, weight etc.
It's also possible to compare characteristics of batteries and electric motors side by adding it to comparation list like this one
This type of smart crawling/indexing is planned for all major RC component groups such as Servos and similar.
Input from the community in terms of functionality, new features or anything else is welcome.
