I've started a new build. Not as big as I want but plenty big for my first scratch build. No plans... all foam... mostly. I am loving the build so far. Please comment!

See the build thread. Still need to balance her but she is looking good for a complete smash into the ground.

For those who have had the invasion I give you hope! I think $7 is a more than reasonable investment.

So I've just spent more than an hour trying to get a deans connector on my new battery. All my other stuff has deans and my charger has deans... I've had trouble in the past but sheesh! I really do not understand how people can love them so much! I can easily get some solder on the leads to the connectors. I CANNOT get the ends of my wires well done to make the joint. I literally held my BUTANE iron on the wires for 15 minutes straight and could not get them to take melted solder. Using electrical stuff. I'm not a noob here. Anyone with a suggestion or care to join me in my rant against the evil red plugs!

Whelp, Its been awhile since I gave an update here so:

A co-worker that also enjoys this hobby parted ways with his well-used and well-cared-for JR X-388S Transmitter and a swath of other goodies (Rxs, extras antennas, perfect manual, etc.). It needed the gear switch and the trainer switch replaced. A simple trip to the Shack took care of that. I've already flown my PZ Corsair with it several times and have good practice messing with the programming. Also, a big thanks go to the fellas here that have given me so much information on this radio. I can actually replace the internal battery myself and that is a huge blessing. I've ordered the FrSky 2.4Ghz module to upgrade this with telemetry too. I'll still use the 72mhz module as the Rxs still work well and so many are going to 2.4 I may have the channel all to myself. My brother-in-law is a great guy that can seem to find anything anywhere. He happened to have a silver metal instrument(engineering not musical) case that fit the bill for a Tx case.

I've also been able to pick up a new motor and ESC for the Tummelisa so I look forward to flying her more than 1.5 minutes! Its going to be a great flying season.

The He-162 salamander has been slow-going but spring house work has been more pressing. Sick kids, new roof, taxes... yadda yadda... life just rolls that way.

Well, I was working on my plane and thought I would share this for others. 1/64th ply is what I used here but it works all the same. Sand with at least 300 grit paper first. Then apply a heavy coat of primer. Dry sand with at least 300 grit again. And then apply a heavy coat of metallic paint. I'm using nothing but rattle cans here. Makes it have a nice dull aluminum look but without the nasty radio interference. Easy peasy too!

My pilot arrived and so did a bunch of updates to my build.

to me small details make all the difference. For example. I constructed this airspeed indicator for my Tummelisa build in only 1/2 hour but with reference documentation I got it made at 2.8cm tall. It will add some great detail and took no time at all.

Looks a tad different now. As usual... check the build log for updates.
