Thats another event done and dusted,I'm pretty sure it went over very well and that everyone enjoyed themselves.
In fact the cabin accommodation is already booked out for next year. The 2011 event planning begun before the 2010 event ended, and the international interests in the event continues to grow .I'm really happy the event has been supported by so many of the Australian slope flyers, well if they were not slope flyers before the event they certainly are now .Its an event that is growing year to year and with the support of Godfrey it can only become a must attend event. If your thinking about coming next year think no more just make sure your there you wont regret it.

All the Planning is over and now the event is once more about to kick into gear, I'm really looking forward to the event and Mt borah is such a great site for the big PSS'ers ,so a week of flying is a head for me,then its back to have the medical issue dealt with. All in all I cant complain its been a great ride so far , hoping it continues that way

Ive got a bit of a medical drama scoring a tumour on my face hopefully and with the doctors opinion its benign, still the waiting for test results is a pain.
The guys in the slope Community world wide are just awesome as they give a great deal of themselves in caring what happens to a fellow flyer
and also from guys that have been in a similar situation ,its given me back some peace of mind and thankfully I have the Manilla slope fest to keep me busy
so here my fleet for that event, well what I can fit in the car that is
SteveW Happy to be here

Foot note : result come back inconclusive Bugger!!!
Oh well nothing I can do about it just have to wait till the doc cuts it out
Booked in for a 3 day hospital stay in October well as the great Shreik would say better out than in.

Just so people know whom to contact with regard to membership of either
the West Sydney Slope Soarers or the NSW Slope Soaring Association
I have the honour of being President of both clubs and am more than happy to answer any enquiry regarding the clubs and or memberships .

Got a lot of building and revamping done this weekend but today I spent working on a make over for the old Hijacker, changed the setup for the ailerons and went for a 2 servo wing . Also gave the fuse a GP thinners bath and took it back to bare fibreglass and then threw a coat of High build primer on it . The wing has been recovered and looks pretty good . I'll post some photos of the finish product soon. Edit here's a couple of shots where I'm at.

Threw some paint into the airbrush yesterday and the Bearcat is 98%flight ready once more need to get a Rx in the nose again as the original lost its aerial inside the fuse somewhere , not to worry I'll sort it out when I get to it. Now I got to finish a build on the Gryphon and re cover the Hijacker
then some minor servo repairs to my Osprey, replace the T-nut that keeps coming loose in the Carbon bird. Probably repaint the Carbon blade while I'm at it . All this and a bit of 2 months to do it all before the Manilla slope fest
SteveW sprinting to the finish

Finally this weekend I got stuck in and did the repair work on the Bearcat which now need to has some glass work done on 1 wing and set it all up again . Not really a big deal as its easy to work on . Also today i was able to bring 2 of the hanger mates together in 1 piece ,so now the know they each exist therfore they are Hurricane looming up fast as well as a revamp of an old 70's model that really has to be made flyable again

This weekend saw me finish off all the electrical work ,all it needs is to be balanced and charged. Ummmmm not quite true my son took the servo cover mould over to his place to clean it up polish and get it generally ready to lay up the covers and his damb dog chewed it up
soI'm current making a new plug for the covers .Still if it does not fly soon then it will be another Maiden flight at the Manilla slope fest .Mean while next weekend I get the Bearcat down and get back to work on her airworthyness .

Just this week I've lost a very close long time friend and fellow flyer in a motorbike accident when he crashed head on into a semitrailer killing him instantly. I didnt feel like doing anything on the models but I'm sure thats not what my mate would have wanted ,so carry on I have. After having a little drama and attempting to do something outside the normal painting routine I stuffed up the paint finish on the port wing ,after much sanding and cursing I got it back to a point where I could apply the Primer again and final a week later I put colour back on using my standard process and of course success was achieve without tears or hand fulls of hair being ripped out .Now I'm close to finishing this model and getting it to fly .

The weather isnt being to kind at the moment and drying times are increased beyond belief ,but slow and steady as they say . I'm on the home run with this puppy now all the painting on the fuse is complete and the wings are currently being filled and sand ready for the primer. Also have my radio for it sorted out
which was a bit of a drama but all's well now .
SteveW with a Hurricane on the boards already...Continue Reading

pretty happy with the progress today even working with green paint without peeling it off with the taping for the rest of the pin striping guess you can be lucky some times

Started adding detail stripes yesterday, after an initial bit of paint bleed under the masking I was able to correct it by re taping and using the airbrush to clean up the edge.

thought I'd add a photo of the colour in the shade which is closer to what it actually is as opposed to bright sun light ,plus i stuck the wings on

Ok today I managed to get hold of the French Royal blue ,well at least as close as I could get ,have to say its a very powerful bright blue that a fact, however should be reasonable visible in the air . Lots more detail yet to go .
SteveW Feeling a little blue
