I finally maidened my new gasser ... my new "pride and joy" 3DHS Extra 330.

My setup:

Hs-985 servos all around
Smartfly Dual Reg
Turnigy BEC for Ignition Regulator..
Three Thunder Power 1300 2s lipos.

It was a colder than usual day, and I was battling a nasty cold .. but I had to fly it.

I was so nervous as I never have built a gasser myself. After getting the engine started and basically tuned I took off into a nice headwind. It flew PERFECT. No trim and the CG was right on the money.

It flies absolutely incredible. Tracking in knife-edge was superb and flew precision very well. It also 3D's like a maniac ! Rolling loops and snap rolls were easy and rolling harriers were smooth as silk.

Tomorrow I am going to take it for a couple more flights after school ...

Here is the Mini Stormbach my friend Stormdriverone made ...

As you can see if flies very well and it very fun !

He added some right thrust and moved the battery and it flies even better than the original.

My friend has done a great job tweaking and getting the best performance out the this plane.

Here is some video of it being flown by me.

For a 20" wingspan plane it is totally 3D capable and is very fast also. It rolls very fast and is a ball to fly.

It also can be built in many other sizes.

Here is the thread for it: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1180912

Slick 51 at Peeler's Park (5 min 6 sec)

This is such a great flying plane.

Very stable in post stall flight yet has the ability to fly fast and be precise.

I must say that SEFF 2011 was a great event and I had a BLAST.

It is probably one of the best run events in the country, everything went off without a hitch.

I myself only managed to take four planes down to SEFF, my 46" Vyper, 42" Slick, Extra 330 EPP Foamy and my night-flyer Cub.

I only flew my 42" and my 46" as it was very windy both days I was their, but I was still able to get many flights in. I hadn't flown my 42" in awhile but it still preformed great! I really like the way this little plane flew. After the three days I was there I managed to break the landing gear off both after some batteries dropped on me and the wind got me. Nothing that will take more than five minutes to fix.

I met some cool guys and really got to see some of the best pilots in the world fly.

I also flew a couple planes such as:

Mikes AKA Bivens 68" Nightflyer Velox
ctunders AKA Chris 89" AJ Slick electric
Horton AKA Noll Epp Extra at night

Thanks guys !

Towards the end of the event I did break a wheel on a landing and had to get a replacment. I gotta thank Ben at 3DHS for hooking me up and getting me back in the air !

Also towards the end of SEFF I talked to Ben at 3DHS ... I decided that I needed to take an 89" Slick of my own home and he gladly helped me out.

I am now the owner of a 50CC airplane. It should be a blast !

Hopefully the weather will calm down soon for some more flight video and also I should be able to start the finishing work on my 72" Extra.

That brings my current 3DHS fleet to 7 and the New Buck.5 will also be mine when it comes out.

I am one step closer to finally getting my 72" in the air !

My DLE-30 came from Tower Hobbys today! It looks like a sweet engine and it should be a great performer.

I decided to go gas after realizing buying batteries would be to expensive.

Its been very windy lately but I have managed to get some flying in.

Wamsy55 - Slick 42 - Sbach Foamy (10 min 56 sec)

Here is me flying my 42" Slick and Stormdriverone's cool little Sbach foamy.

I hadn't flown it in awhile ... but it stills flies great.

That same day I did manage to rip the landing gear out of my 51" Slick ... but hopefully I can fix it tomorrow before SEFF.

SEFF is a few days away and I can't wait ... I will have the camera rolling and hopefully meet some new guys and get some good flying in.

I will be their Thursday night through Saturday night !

I am finally recovering from the TN Huckfest .....

I managed to keep everything except my 51" Slick in one piece. A solder joint went bad on the deans connector which caused a nice nose first crash. No need to worry as all it needs is a new motor box, not even the front former was damaged so it will be an easy fix.

The first day I arrived was friday, it was windy but I decided to fly to fly anyways. They were some of my best flights ever ! The wind was in just the right direction to bring it down VERY low for some rollers. I even managed a roller to landing. After it went down I flew my 46" Vyper and my foamy.

Nightflying was absolutely incredible! Mike and his crew had multiple light tower so you could see almost the whole runway. It was definitely a highlight of the event.

I got to watch Hover bowling which was very fun and managed to win a couple little things in the raffle.

I also got to meet all my online buddys.

Mike (AKA Bivens) ran the event beautifully and was a great host. He let me fly almost his whole fleet of airplanes! I got to fly:

68" Velox
65" Vyper
103" Extra 330
57" Extra 330
The Beast Biplane

Jason let me fly his 89" Slick which was great!
Rcbirk21 let me fly his Osiris, which flew great and the first patten plane I had ever flown.
I got to fly the 104" Slick from 3DHS, I was on the buddy box with Arron Bates.

Overall I also got to see some amazing pilots throw their planes around.
Joe Smith flew the snot out of everything, I have never seen rollers that low. I also saw Arron Bates fly his 104" Slick like a madman.

I didn't take any video because I was way to busy meeting friends and flying stuff !

I did get some pretty good photos though ...

If there ever is a chance to go back to K-town for another Huckfest or Throwdown, I would go in a heart beat !

Well .... the weather is starting to get better ... Spring break is here and the TN Huckfest is just a few days away.

I have a LOT of stuff to post.

The last couple weeks it has rained every Sunday it seems, this past Sunday was good enough, but still chilly. I was able to get the 46" Vyper and 51" AJ Slick in the air for some good flights especially with the Vyper. The 51" had some ESC issues that hopefully will be solved soon before the Huckfest.

The Vyper is becoming one of my favorites, I had to repair the canopy from the last couple mishaps it has had. It looks funny becaue I added some tape with fiberglass strands in it to cover up some cracks. It actually looks cool from a distance.

I have been working on some cool snap rolls, rollers , and switching rollers lately. Rolling loops are much better I can do them almost every try.

I also was finally able to order my new gasser ... a 3DHS 72" Extra 330 ! I am going to buy a new DLE-30 engine and probably some new Hi-Tec servos. I will not be ready for the Huckfest, but I can wait.

I also was able to snag a Fancy Foam Yak, I had flown a friends and it was great. So when I saw the Fancy Foam was going out of business I had to order one. It should hold me over until 3DHS comes out the the depron Velox. It will be nice to have one in the box for a rainy day also.

I also have put up two new short videos. I put them up to test out my new phone which allows you to upload videos directly to youtube from it.

One of the Foamy:
Durability Testing (1 min 29 sec)

One of the Vyper:
Vyper Fun V2 (0 min 50 sec)

My dad and I will be leaving Friday for the Huckfest ... It should be really fun to meet some world class pilots and others who like to 3D as much as I.

I got some major flying in these past couple days.

Saturday was perfect except for the usual crosswind, I had plenty of flights in with my 46" Vyper and 42" Slick. I am really loving the 46" I got down for some really low hovers and the rollers are fantastic. Not to mention I can flip on low rates and take a nice slow cruise while doing some precision stunts.

Sunday wasn't very good though, Thunderstorms were all around but it was actually very calm for awhile. I flew the 51" Slick with some new HobbyKing batteries. I was able to get some more flight time and a little more power. I was able to get down for some really nice low hovers.

I also got another chance to do some indoor flying !

It was totally fun and I got to fly some cool planes. Its really nice to fly in dead calm air every once in awhile. I flew some micro planes and a Fancy Foam Yak which is amazing ! Some video was taken, so when I get that I will post it here.

Huckfest time is also here so I cannot wait !

Well since the winds here were absolutely crazy this weekend some friends and I decided a slope trip was necessary. Well they decided , I just tagged along.

We were Sloping off a small dam out in the middle of nowhere.

I have never flown a slope plane before, but will some guidance by some good friends it wasn't as hard as I thought. It was really fun, and I managed to get myself into about five midair collisions.

I was flying some EPP Foamy and it was basically unbreakable, while we were at the dam no ones planes where seriously damage except for one. I was flying a borrowed plane so I was extra carful not to do anything stupid. We stayed for over four hours and I was in the air almost the whole time. It was much different than I expected, especially for someone like myself who has only been flying 3D for the past five months or so.

We packed up and went searching for a new spot to fly at, we drove up into the mountains and found a nice little slope, but it turned out to be very perilous. The lift was much different that at the slope, and if you lost lift you were headed straight into the trees and we probably never could have found it. I at first said I wouldn't try to fly but I did and it was really fun. Then it came time to land, which was extremely difficult. The foamies were not to bad, but the "Crunchies" ... AKA carbonfiber and balsa planes were predicted not to make it. But due to extremely good and crazy approaches all planes where able to make it down without to much damage.

Overall it was a blast and I would definitely do it again. I also maidened my 51" Slick last week and it flys extremely well.

I might even get to try some indoor flying this week to.

Here is my newest 3D video alsooooooooooo .

EPP Extra Edited Video (5 min 26 sec)

Their was a tragic moment at Peelers Park this past weekend ...

I was flying my Extreme Flight Yak 54 , which I was finally starting to get the hang of, and violently and randomly the wing flew off.

Video of last flight:
00009 (3 min 11 sec)

I tried to save it, but their was nothing I could do. I managed to keep it in the air for a couple seconds up in the panic it was nearly impossible for me to land it. The plane went in nose first and totaled the airframe. Me and some friends went to go find the wing that came off, and after a nice long walk found it at the far end of the flying field. We found the wing had a really bad structural failure, it seemed the glue joints just gave out. Both wing-bolts were still attached to the fuselage.

It is the first time ever loosing a plane this size and it truly does suck.

It seems the engine and servos may have survived. The airframe and some of my dignity are toast.

My dad and I sent an email to them , but unfortunately since the airframe was so old (its not even made anymore) they really can't do much for me.

They did give me a little discount on my next purchase , I really can't ask for much more than that.

Even after my crash , I didn't let it get me down. I flew my Vyper , Slick and foamy. I also got to fly a friends FancyFoam Yak 55 and its amazing so I will have to have one.

Well as the title says ... the Vyper is down ...

Its not to bad but its no longer pristine. I even got the whole thing on video.

Vyper Goes Down (4 min 32 sec)

The canopy was destroyed and cowling was tore up pretty good. A couple scrapes on the rudder and wings but its in one piece.

After that I nearly went home ... but decided to get some video of the Slick ... which turned out really good ...

I even pulled off an inverted tail drag.

We finally got some warm weather this Sunday , it was about 45 Degrees .....

I got some really good flights in the Slick and Vyper , both are flying great. The foamy still isn't perfect due to the cold weather making the hinges getting stiff in the cold , but it still is a blast .. even if I can't do smooth rollers.

I got some really good low hovers with the Vyper ... and a bunch of torque roll practice with the Slick.

I also noticed I was having a hard time doing normal upright harriers ... when I realized I practiced inverted harriers so much I was getting the inputs wrong.

I ran out of batteries at 1:00 PM so I went home and ordered some new batteries , so next time I can stay longer.

I just started the 51" Slick build .... its going to be awesome.

I thought about selling it to buy the 65" Vyper ... but I don't really need another big plane .... for now ....

Back to school tomorrow after a week break due to snow ...

I got some flying done when the wind finally stopped blowing ...

Fun plane !

Well .... the 3DHS 46" Vyper Maiden Flight went ......

Awesome !

The first flight the CG was to far forward ... but after some adjustments .... it flew great just as expected ...

Its great at knife-edges and hovers not to mention torque rolls are awesome.

I got five flights on it before I was to cold to continue ... I didn't even fly the Slick .... or the foamy.

It was about 18 degrees ...

I did get to fly the Foamy in the snow TN got over the past couple of days ...

Now to start the 51" Slick .... and work on getting some new batteries mine are getting a little worn out and not performing as they should.

I am really late on this blog post , but last Sundays flying could only be described as cold ...

I took the EF Yak 54 out to the field and got four solid flights on it ... I am still getting used to flying this big plane ... but it is really fun.

One flight was a little scary because on one of the aileron extensions there was a bad connector ... which caused one aileron not to work during a part of the flight.

I landed without issue and fixed the problem ...

I also remaidened the 42" Slick after I crashed it a couple weeks ago ...

The new motor box went in perfect and it still flies awesome !

The 46" Vyper is finally finished ... .... Maiden flight is tomorrow morning and everything should go great ...

Next Project is the 51" 3DHS Slick ...

School is also back .... no more flying on week days ..
