Today's successful maidens... GWS FW190 and PZ's Extra 300 BNF
The FW 190 flew great.
-Only one battery so far, I didn't want to lose the airframe because of a damaged cowl after a nose over on landing!!
-Lots of power.
-Needs the hi/low rates tweaked.
-Needs a TON of down thrust added. (Darn thing wants to go vertical and then some from level flight when full power is applied.)
-CG was a bit too far forward. (at 75mm)
-Main landing gear needs to be removed for grass landings, damaged only the cowl on a nose over.
The Extra 300 flew perfect.
-Flew the first battery after a loooong ROG in the grass.
-Lots of power on tap but not quite unlimited vertical, at lease at 5200 feet.
-Botched the first landing, flared too early, ripped out the main gear no other damage!!
-CG was perfect for me with the battery full forward.
-Flew smoothly on low rates if a little loose. High rates were spot on.
-Flew the second battery with no LG after a hand toss and tried my first snap roll... Hmm interesting... more sim practice maybe.
-Perfect wheels up landing, nice and slow, no tip stall, ZERO damage, not even so much as a grass stain!!
-Tried a 1300 mAh for the third battery, flew great for about three minutes.
-And another wheels up landing, again no damage
-Lastly... after a light application of 5min epoxy the LG is back where it belongs. I went light on the epoxy... I didn't want massive carnage from another mishap.
