I tried to get the pond runner running (no pun intended) but when i put a prop on it does not run? so after an hour of tinkering with it i said screw it, i'll put the big 480 brushless motor from the brushless supercub. now this thing goes 30mph on a 1/3 charged bat. Can't wait till morning for another run. (P.S. i put some cool lights shining on the back & blinking on the top and bottom i will try to get pics soon) refer to this thread https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1095907

bad news, I've been having trouble with the wires to the motor, they keep coming unsoldered, So I've been trying to fix them without breaking the other wires, they are all cramed into a tiny area, and of course while testing the motor to see if the connection is good, I start to smell a funny burning smell, so i quickly opened the hatch to the servos, esc, and rx, and rip off the smoldering/smoking esc and unplug the battery. Great, a brand new plane with only 3 or 4 flights and it's already broken. I don't know if it was an electronic error, or me shorting out the motor. Good thing the esc was only $7. I've got a 30amp esc and a 45amp esc so I just need to instal one those, and hope the motor still works.

"Aeronaut" ATV RC Plane (3 min 53 sec)

Posted by evan.flatt | Aug 15, 2009 @ 04:51 PM | 3,473 Views
Here is my new idea inspired by the snowball by crash test hobbies/ lee (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=36945) and a pbf. I am thinking it would be 4ch, rudder, elevons, elevator and throttle. I've got 2 long foam rectangles for the floats, and a piece of poster board. My electronics on one the way from hobbyking, the list of them is in the attached pdf sketch. I am wanting it to be fairly big, maybe 3ft long, and 2.25 feet wide. This will be the plane I build if my foamboard ultra stick doesn't work (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...php?t=1091723). If the stick does work than I will build this plane and make the electronics easily taken off to switch them from plane to plane. Feel free to send me any questions, or improvements.

almost complete, I did some glide tests and it seems to work fine, but after seeing the overall size of this plane I am beginning to wonder if my electronics are to big, especially the motor. The weight now is 6oz

here's the link to it's thread https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1091723

I added a slow stick motor and gearbox to my slo-v. I am using a 3cell 1750mah lipo and this thing hauls! I can even do rolls! I will try for a video soon.

Decided I am going to build a built-up foamboard stick, here's a top view of what it will look like, except with another aileron. (got lazy while drawing)
