Being blessed with a dad who was a 50yr modeler, I grew up flying freeflight and controline, then finally decided to try R/C in 1980 by building a Falcon 56. Flew mode2 until right hand was crushed in 1986. Four years later decided to re-learn how to fly by putting aileron/elevator on left stick, throttle and rudder on the right. Did this on a standard old Futaba by switching around what channels the servos were plugged into Rx, and swapped the throttle ratchet and elevator spring between the Tx gimbals. Still flying mode 3 today, here's a pic of my Tx setup.
