For my 50th birthday, my Indoor-team surprised me with a very special present. First they gave me a "3D puzzle" of the Xtreme3000 (the latest design of Martin Müller), and just when I said I would hardly ever fly such a unique model, Martin came flying into the room with the RTF version and told me those where just spare parts.

Now I have my very own model, signed by my Indoor-team, weighing 142g with AXI 2203/46 and Vortex 2/350mAh.

Thanks a lot guys!

I bought a US Spektrum DX7 to gain some practical 2.4GHz experience, only to find out, that the radio does not seem to comply with European Regulations (despite carrying the CE symbol, the peak output is way too high).

So when the Futaba T6EX 2.4GHz became available, I bought this radio and put it into a model to compete in Fun Flying Racing (FFR) - Open Class. With my standard 35MHz radio, I always had to ensure not to point the tx antenna towards the model, while the rx antenna was shielded by the drive system (Battery, ESC, motor plus cables) - quite a nuisance during racing.

RC has never been so easy. Completely troublefree with 2.4GHz and I even have the results to prove it. First place on 20th May 2007 at Menzelen, Third place 03rd June 2007 in Münster (Despite coming third, I still had the fastest FunJet - only beaten by a ProJeti - with the same drive system - and a superfast Micro-Jet).

Amazing how little is left after almost three days of filming.

The Team from the popular German TV station Pro7 put together a nice video about the German Indoor Aerobatics Championship 2007.

Of course it comes with German commentary only, and some facts are wrong, but nevertheless you should enjoy it.

Please find attached the complete results of the German Indoor Aerobatics Championship 2007. As it is an Open Championship, we also had the best pilots from the Czech Republik, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and even Finland competing. It was hard to beat the quality of flying from last year, but I think these guys did it again. Due to the increasing popularity of this sport, a team of a major TV station was there for three days!

What the RC community likes, is not necessarily interesting to what the general public finds interesting. A couple of months ago, I submitted some of my RC model videos at www.metacafe.com.

It is interesting to see, how various videos are rated and some of the comments are quite funny. Some videos have not been shown in my gallery or blog.

Have a look at the same video and compare ratings and comments :

Although pretty tough, my Gemini suffered quite a bit of damage today during a freak accident. Can you guess what happened - judging by the pictures?

Last blog entry for 2006.

You have seen pictures and videos from previous Air Shows in my blog. Next year we will already see the 6th. International Euro Model Air Show in Rheidt (near Bonn/Germany) from 03.-05. August 2007, and this event seems to get bigger and better every year. For the first time, we should also see some pilots from the LMA (Large Model Association) on our airfield. Here are some "appetizers":
