I am working on a replacement fuse for a friends 1-26B originally built from AMA plans more than 20 years ago. The original fuse had a bad tendency to break right behind the wheel during a hard landing.

I purchased a 1-26E kit from Aerosente and began the build with the idea in mind of making it look as much like a 1-26B/C as possible. This entailed cutting out the lite ply on the sides and rounding the edges of the stringers to approximate a tube structure. Additional braces were added to provide the required structural strength that was originally provided by the sheeting. Some stringers were added and others shortened to duplicate as much as possible the original structure.

More to follow later.
