I decided all the balsa was getting to me... so I took a break and made the canopy frames with wonderful stuff called baremetal foil. it's adhesive backed so just cut off the right amount, peel it off and stick it on. it looks like real metal too!

here is what i did after 2 hours

Aaahhh crashed my Typhoon yesterday evening.
up for some general handling and basic loops, rolls, etc etc. I thought wow, not bad for a person with only 40+ hours on a sim and just 1 or 2 times of real flight experience.

all of a sudden, the elevator stopped working and the plane got planted nicely next to some shrubs. right before impact i could hear the elevator buzzing and doing that morse code thing.

the damage is not too bad actually. two clean breaks in the fuse and the firewall cracked. the prop shaft bent but oddly, the prop was fine.

I think the cause of the crash was because of interference and not pilot error.
beside the fact that i was scared to death, I recovered from a goof of a loop at around 40 feet. and then it started its dive. Tried pulling up on the elevator but no avail. no linkage/clevise was broken so it could only have been interference.

Got the side keel thing and some of the other formers on the right side on.
took me long enough I haven't glued down all of the former/keel intersections yet for the feear that I will glue down a warp.
I'm gonna glue them down one by one alternating sides when I'm done.

Didn't do ANYTHING today except for gluing some stuff on. The CA i bought today helps a lot.
1) glued on the final formers on the let side
2) took assembly off of plan\wax paper
3) glued two opposite formers on

feel free to comment on how sucky i am

I just started my Guillows Stuka today. Since I'm completely new to kit building (at least wooden kits-I was plastic scale modeler), it took me about 20 minutes to cut out 2 parts . Snapped one part and had to glue it back.
T-pins are on my shopping list now, because I'm having a hell of a time trying to pin down the parts while glue sets.

Also, if anyone could tell me how to make attachments, it would be lovely.

Enjoy my newbishness:

In my efforts to create spectacular crashes in G3 demo, I have come up with this:

no photoshop editting!
I blew off both main wings, the whole tail assembly, and the nose and main landing gears.

Nothing too special.
I just decided this could be my initial blog entry.
