So with a hexacopter waiting to be build, a DJI WKM ready to be installed on my Y-6 and 2 switches needing to be replaced on my DX8 (I freaking dropped it on the carpet )

This weekend I got some good progress done on my Ground Station

The face plate is almost done:

Still needed to be completed:

Bulk Head RCA plugs for 2x Fatshark Goggles and Aux out for unknown stuff
I completely forgot about them and never ordered them.

On the back I will need to gorilla glue some standoffs and using light ply I will be building some shelves to hold all the wiring harness, fuse, video switch and the rest of the gear!

today i spent some time with my drill press, dremel tool and scroll...Continue Reading

Well this is my mock up of my dual frequency ground station:

Gear:

2x 7" LCD Hair Screens
Eagle Eyes Diversity Controller
2x 1.2ghz Lawmate vRx
2x 5.8ghz Foxtech vRx
2x Fat Shark Base Edition Goggles

comming soon!!!!! 1 more Eagle Eyes Diversity Controller for the 5.8ghz gear.

I will be making a face plate, power distribution, switches for power..... BECs for 5v, 9v and 12v so the TV screens and 5v output.

I also have bulk head RCA ports for being able to quickly connect and disconnect the goggles.

1 TV and 1 Goggle will be on 5.8ghz and the other set will be on 1.3ghz

the 5.8ghz goggles will be run through a video switcher so i the passenger/camera operator can swtich between stabilized camera and FPV camera.

This will be used for my multirotors

The rest of the case Pelican 1510 will hold my two Dx8s and all my Lipos for carry on when traveling on an airline

Will be buying a 1620 soon to hold my 3 multirotors...

2 are still being...Continue Reading

1 Naze32 will be going into an OMGFly quad with 2814s and a yet to be aquired gimbal for gopro size camera (if the x468 works well enough it will be another one)

the 2nd Naze32 is going to be the gimbal controller for Askman's AG-550 gimbal on my RC-Carbon Y-6 which will have the DJI WKM controller on board!!!!

fun times await! Need to build 2 full multirotors, install and tune 3 flight controllers and one gimbal controller..... and build my pelican 1510 ground station by june 1st

I bought the PSO MKTR mount used off the BST about 3 weeks ago and went i got it the servo horns were warn down and did not hold the roll arms very well and I was getting frustrated trying to tune it.....

So I sent a email to PSO and I quickly got an email back.... I was asking if I could purchase some unlisted parts for the MKTR. I was upfront with the owner and let him know that I had bought his mount used and would pay for any parts I needed.

He sent me an email back letting me know that he would send me the parts the next day and not to worry about the cost.

I got the parts a couple days later and today was able to install them.

My MKTR has dual roll servos (fairly cheap HiTech Digital Servos) and the Gear driven tilt with a slightly higher end HiTech digital servo. Ill add the part numbers later.

I hooked it up to my RC-Carbon Y-6 , tuned my HoverFly Pro board for the gimbal and took it out to the front yard to put it through its paces.

It performed well and will be better as I tune it better and loosen the adjustment screws for the vibration dampening.

The mount is well made and with using fairly cheap and lowend servos gets good results. Is it the same as DJI's new $1K gimbal or the Cinestar Gimbal.... no, but for the $400 or so that I picked it up for it is well worth the $$

I am not a fan of direct drive mounts and the dual direct drive servo on the roll axis do a good job, much better than if it was a single servo, but I think this is...Continue Reading

Field Test Askman gimbal new Y 6 XL (1 min 18 sec)

getting better.... just had some fun at the field. Some are stabilized others are raw.

still need to tune it and learn how to fly!

all but minor tweaking it is done. Took it out for a spin at my local flying site.

still needs some work, I need larger props on the bottom (weird yaw when throttling up and down) and I need to tune my HFpro for gimbal gains..... then add the HF GPS board and mount a dome on top... so it is getting there.
