So i have been asked a couple times and I have seen multiple people ask for one from others. Since being on the road and flying in nature rather than my home flying field or front yard I have realized the importance of a preflight. I am flying more and more over water which i am a chicken about and I am prepared for a failure and the rig going down, but i would rather that not happen. So this is how I try and minimize the risk to my rig and my own safety

here is my Preflight Checklist for my particular rig, it might be of use to others.... (maybe)

Quote:
AP XL Y6 Preflight Check List
Check All Prior to Flight:
 6 Prop Adapter Nuts
 6 Props for chips, dings, balancing tape, white lines or any signs of weakness
 All screws on the motor mounts including the 4 screws in the motor
 Front Arm Folding Screws
 Mounting screws for AG-550n Gimbal
 Set Screws on pulley (Tilt and Roll)
 Servo Wires for Gimbal Servos
 Debris in motor Cans
 Voltage on Flight Pack and FPV Pack
 Inverted V FPV antenna SMA connections
 Satellite wires from Rx
 Turn on Tx (check voltage)
 Check Tx Switches (Gear 0, flaps 2, F Mode 1, D/R 0, Throttle 0% )
 Plugin Flight Pack (Check voltage again)
 Wait for no Red Flashes and Green Flash
 Plugin FPV pack
 Power on GS
 Test flight in manual mode, aggressive maneuvers, ATTI flight, GPS PH and RTL
 FLY

Flying in the Backyard of the Morningstar Ranch. Lighting Hit Tree, Bird Flying, Creek Following (0 min 49 sec)

little wobbly, new firmware on the HoverFly Gimbal and it needs to be tuned

i was a complete moron and left my Patch antenna on the table when i left and so I had to fly LOS rather than FPV

i wanted to do some slow circles around the tree..... but that was not going to happen flying LOS at 300' away

anyways tomorrow ill have another chance!

Morningstar Ranch Front Yard Aerial Video, Sprinklers and Driveway (2 min 24 sec)

fairly calm weather.... just seeing how the Nex-5n would do in dusk conditions and trying to fly down the sprinkler lines

okay newest (an I think the best) shot that I had to capture the ranch and some fishing. I think 1 or 2 of these shots will be perfect for a 2-3min feature on the ranch when i am done.

Aerial Video of Fly Fishing and Horses at the Morningstar Ranch (4 min 32 sec)

so much nicer to fly in calm weather

so i will post the progression of tuning that I am going through with Askman's AG-550n gimbal and the HoverFly Gimbal Controller

First Test Flight:
New HoverFly Gimbal Controller Flight Test with Sony Nex-5n 16mm AG-550n Gimbal (2 min 32 sec)

after I lowed the roll accelaration down to 5 (from 1500 )

also this test was done with the Gimbal Controller stuck on the gimbal with Zeal Gyro Tape ( i noticed the rig was slow to respond in roll)

Second Flight
HoverFly Gimbal Controller Test Flight 2 Tuning Sony Nex-5n Aerial Video Test (3 min 1 sec)

So I have an HDMI converter but the weight is an issue..... and the mini-HDMI connector is in a bad spot on my gimbals... so i am sure i will use it, but i have deceded to try out using a CCD mounted on the hot shoe with a cold shoe adapter from Amazon for the Nex-5n.

mounted it with 3M double stick tape, the a zip tie around and then after I coated the whole thing in plastidip

(pictures dont show the pastidip yet)

I have found that 2.6mm lens is almost exactly what the 16mm pancake's FOV is

So tonight i wired up a LC filter for FPV gear to get rid of servo lines or motor lines in video shared with the flight pack for my "shimp" multirotor

also wired up a voltage regulator that will be able to take the 14.8v from the 4s and drop it down to 12v for my video gear on that same shrimp (that way i can keep it simple and light and only need one battery)

still need to adjust the Vreg and then add some heatshrink.... but its late so that will wait for tomorrow
