I just finished the new Foamie ...

I had actually had it finished a few nights ago .. but I finally got it dailed in pretty good.

I just need to move the CG back a little more ..

It flies great ... I even got a little video of it today !

330 Video.wmv (6 min 24 sec)

After that flight and another I totally wrecked my 42" Slick ....

I came in for a low harrier ... and when I went to pull out vertically .... I nosed it in really bad.

My fault .... My fingers where a little to cold to be flying that low , and I didn't realize that I was still pulling on the stick ....

But due to the awesomeness of this little plane ... and I already glued the new one in. It was super easy to replace , I ordered a motor box a couple weeks ago just to have in case of a crash so I was prepaired for this one.

All I need is a new cowling and a couple peices of covering to patch up two little rips.

It was a great Christmas here in Tennessee .....

It snowed last night ... so its the first white Christmas since the 80's .. and my first ... pretty cool .. to bad its to windy because I really want to get the new foamie and hover over it ...

I guess I was pretty good .... 51" 3DHS Slick ..... its really cool ....

I got all my 3D planes out and took a picture ... I think I am running out of room !

Once again ... Merry Christmas !

We finally got some good weather for flying .....

I only flew the Slick 42" .... I got about 10 flights on it ..... pure fun.

I took the T-28 out to the field .... but it never got out of the car.

I did maiden a cool plane called a Multiplex Parkmaster ... which was awesome ... but unfortunately it had a midair later that day.

One of the wheels randomly broke after a harrier landing .... so some CA fixed that and I was off and flying again .... I already ordered some new wheels and some other things for a couple new projects ...

I have a 3DHS 46" Vyper that I am building ..... I am almost done with the airframe. I just need the servos and ESC and I am ready to finish it.

My setup:

Omega 130g Motor
Castle ESC 60 Amp (Probably)
Hs-65MG Servos All Around
3DHS Long Throw Servo Arms
3 Cell 2200 mah Batteries .....

It should be really fun .... I can't wait to fly it.

Tomorrow my 3DHS Extra 330 Foamie should arrive ....

I already have the parts ready so I just need to get the airframe.

I watched the build videos already ... before I was a little worried because I have never built an EPP Kit like this before ... but the build videos have me feeling confident ....

Next project after that is a 3DHS 51" Slick

I got some good pictures of my Slick Sunday .... still my favorite plane ...

I need to get some flights on the Yak ... but its just a little to cold .....

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All !

Yup ... it was snowing when I got to the field Sunday morning ...

I slept in expecting the wind to pick up ... but I couldn't resist at least trying to fly.

It was very cold and their was a good wind ...

I tried one 3D flight and ... my fingers where way to cold to try anything crazy .

I pulled out the trusty T-28 and battled the wind and snow ... and tried some bush landings ....

Yes .... I did land in the pits .... Sue me ...

You get to see a ton of photos from the flying field ( Peelers Park ) and even a little video of me flying the Yak 54 ...

Frank does a great job putting these weekly videos together.

I had a good day flying today ... I had over 10 flights with the Slick and four with the Yak 54.

I would have flown it more but the wind required landing from the right side of the field which I was extremely uncomfortable doing .....

I did it once but I just want to keep it simple until I get used to the plane.

I even got some video of me flying ....

Slickness (6 min 0 sec)

I brought out my Dads good camera and he took some really good photos and I did to. I got some really good ones of my friends Parkzone T-28.

I got a little to low with my Slick and put it into the ground no damage and it made a good picture. I really am doing good with the Slick ... now I really want a new 3DHS airframe to play with ... a 48 VR-1 or a 46 Vyper .... or both ...

Christmas is coming soon ... which means I will try to get one ...

Enjoy ...Continue Reading

I had a pretty good RC Weekend ...

Saturday I got in 6 flights with my Extreme Flight Yak 54 , and about 7 flights with my 3D Hobby Shop 42" Slick ......

Sunday was not supposed to be the best day for RC flying due to the wind .... .... but for a couple hours it was almost perfectly calm ....

It was better than expected ....

I got in three flights with my Yak 54 and 7 flights with my 42" Slick ...

Jim , our local RC camera man , got some great pictures ...

I have been working on many different 3D moves over the past couple of weeks .....

Torque Rolls
Rolling Loops
Rolling Circles ... While rolling to the left instead of right

I am getting into the more difficult stuff and its a blast .....

The Yak is taking some getting used to ... it does maneuvers much differently than my Slick .... but it is nice to have the best of both gas and electrics at my disposal ....

No school wendesday .... or the rest of the week but the weather doesn't look great for RC flying until the weekend so

I had a great day of flying this past sunday ....

I got 10 flights in with my Extreme Flight Yak and only two with my Slick ...

An aileron servo stripped on the third flight ... ...

I also got some Nightflying in with my Super Cub ....

I had a good day of RC Flying ... rdbell came out and flew with us ....

He even attacked the windsock with his flying wind and hit it twice ! It was cool .... His Quadcopter was pretty cool too ....

Well after many hours of work the Yak flies ....

Me and a couple great guys from the field ... Bruce , Chris , and Steve worked on it for a long time Saturday and got it into the air Sunday ...

It doesn't fly like the Slick at all ... but I love it and can't wait to get it into the air some more ...

The Slick had a rough day ....

I put it in pretty hard after loosing orientation while practicing rolling loops .... it didn't seem like their was to much damage .... other than some scratches ...

I changed the prop and put it up again .... and while doing a knife edge spin the prop flew off and I was force to do a landing .... but it happened very fast and I flared to early which broke both gears .... and I later discovered the motor box was pretty messed up ...

I could fix it with CA ... but for 10 bucks a new motor box seems like a better option ......Continue Reading

Well ... I have gone to the dark side ... I am going to be getting my first gasser.

Its an Extreme Flight Yak 54 ... its an awesome looking plane ...

Sunday I got some good flying in ... I mostly flew the Slick until the rudder servo mount gave out.

I got some really good photos of it ( Thanks Jim ) and I am getting much more comfortable ....

The big thing that happened was a turbine crashed ... it was really bad ... their was nothing left ....

Unfortunately the time is about to change which will make flying after school impossible ...

Enjoy the pics ....

It was Super windy this last Sunday ....

I was excited to fly but ....

I got to the field and it was breezy with a good 8 mph wind .... then while at the field a couple friends arrived and the windy weather turned calm and I even got to fly my Aito Bi-plane. Which flew great after an incident with the ground Friday ... Then about an hour later ... the wind picked up even more ... it was really windy ! It went from dead calm back to 10 mph and gusting to 15 mph .... it got even worse ... when I left at 1:04 it was just up to 30 mph ...

I spent most of the day setting up a Multiplex Cularis Glider ... we spent well over and hour ... more like two hours mixing and getting it flight ready.

I only flew the Slick and got some good flights with it and even a tail touch ....

I am getting more comfortable and at the same time more anxious to get my hands on a bigger plane ..... I might even go look at one locally ... (Look at bold letters)

The time is changing and eventually it will be almost dark by the time I get home from school ... which stinks .... but at least I have a simulator ...

Aito Biplane (4 min 25 sec)

I wish I could fly the Slick in the backyard ....

I got some good flying in ....

Its getting colder in TN ... its was 40 Degrees when I left the house ... I ordered a transmitter mitt so I can practice all winter.

I started the day with the Aito and I am really getting good with this plane ... its just easy flying plane that I am comfortable with .... Its great for trying out new maneuvers. It did get a little beat up after I was doing some low rolling circles and the grass jumped up and caught a wingtip ... nothing foam safe CA won't fix.

I then got the Slick out after I warmed up .... man I love this plane. I am getting really comfortable ... rolling loops are getting better ... I can do a half loop really well ... just the other half I start to panic I even got down low for some close in hovering ... I have to please the cameraman

I was going to get some video but unfortunately it didn't work out.

The quest for a bigger plane got shot down when the "budget" was a bit lower than expected .... those 6s Thunder Power batteries are expensive ... thats all I have to say ... Eventually it will happen ... Its all Bivens fault ... after I flew the 87' SHP thats all I could think about ...

Fall break is over so now its back to flying once a week ... unless I can sneak out after school ....

I might try to build a new plane this week .... not sure if I am up to it ....

It was a great days flying and I can't wait for next Sunday ...

It was a great day for RC flying ..... and their where a lot of people ... I think we counted 60-80 ...

I had a good day ... I was bummed out about my Super Cub Nightflyer .... something went wrong with the wiring and completely smoked the system ... so that will take some work.

I mostly flew the Slick and the T-28 and the Aito , half way through the day the Eflite 480 Motor on my Slick smoked. I wasn't to happy about that ....

Then some one came up and asked me if I had any extra 12 by 6 props ... and thats the prop I had on my Slick so I took it off and gave it to him. He tried to pay me but I just gave it to him.

A little while later a guy (Tony) came up to me and gave me an Eflite 480 motor ! I bolted it onto the Slick and flew some more.

I guess that was Karma or something ....

It was a great day and I met a lot of nice people ...

I left Saturday around 5:00 ..

Sunday flying was good also I mostly flew the Aito and the Slick ....

I got to take another ride in a Cessna 172 today which was pretty fun ....

What a weekend .... ...Continue Reading

It was a great day ... huge planes ... and great weather.

I arrived at 10:30 at my and go to fly my Slick a little .... their were many huge planes and even a couple of 3DHS planes ....

At 12:00 they even had a 3D time .... Their were four pilots .... including me ...

Three 50 CC monsters and one 42" Slick ... I did fly the lowest ...

Later in the day after the turbines where done I again went to fly the Slick ....

As I was walking up to the flight line a man approached me and said .... " Do you want to fly the 87" Extra SHP ...... " and I said " Heck Yea ! "

I took it up and flew the heck out of it .... it had a smoke system which I loved to use .... Torque Rolls where awesome ...

Thanks Micheal (Bivens on RCG) for being brave and letting me fly the Extra !

After I was done flying I even got to take picture with the Fly Low Girls ... ...Continue Reading
