Although I have had 3 Ripmax Xcalibur turbine jets, I have never had the larger Plus one. I finally got a change to buy a really nice one used.
I am really impressed with the flight characteristics of the Xcaliburs, and this larger one has not let me down.
I am powering it with the same Jetcat P120 that I have used in all my jets. I prefer propane start, as it has less chance of a puddling fire and it
does start up immediately. This Plus has a much larger tank that I have installed from a PilotRC 2.2m predator that survived from a mishap with
a friends predator. The tank is huge 4.7l and includes a built in UAT. I painted the tank to make it match the plane, but now I have to strip a window
off the tank so I can see fuel level (duh). Servos are all Savox 1230mg (500oz), and I use these in all my turbine jets.
I am a dedicated Spektrum flyer, having used Spektrum in literally tons of my planes, and have had JR 9303, 9503, DX7, DX18gen 1 and 2, DX20 and now an IX20. I have used nothing my Spektrum Powersafe receivers 9,12, and 20 ch in my planes. I HAVE NEVER had a crash attributed to any
Spektrum equipped planes, either my Giant Scale or Jets. Here are some photos of my Xcalibur.

Finished my 2.2m Predator, maidened flight was successful. Powered by Jetcat P120.
Near perfect reading on Spektrum IX20 and AR20310T rx.

This is an awesome model and great flyer/lander. It is powered by a Kingtech K120 turbine, has a Spektrum 20310T 20ch receiver, all Savox 1230sg 500oz servos.

This 42% Aeroworks Yak has got to be the best flyer I have ever flown. Power is DA150 with greeves pipes, 32x10 mejlick carbon prop. Inside is a Smart-fly EQ10, Turbo reg and powered by 2 Thunder power 5400 lipos. Hitech 7955 servos throughout.

I got a great deal on a built unflown, Q.Q. Yak 120" in a special color scheme. I stuck in a DA150, HS-7955 servos and now I have a wonderful flyer.

103" Giant Scale Yak54 100CC Nitro Remote Control Airplane Kit (White)

This blog hopefully will help someone to decide to BUY or NOT to buy a 103" Giant Scale Yak54 100CC Nitro Remote Control Airplane Kit (White) from NitroPlanes.
The plane is sold as an arf, and has some major flaws in its design and accompanied hardware.
First, let me cover the main points:

1) The manual is incorrect/lacking in many areas. The details will be covered later in this thread.
2) The plane is extremely tail heavy. If using a DA-85, you will need to extend the motor mount to the extreme limits of the cowling. You will also need to add 2 lbs of weight to the nose. A DA-100, and you still will need to add approximately 1 to 1-1/2 lb to nose. When deciding where to install you batteries, whether LIFE, LIPO, or NIMH, consider the top or side of motor box 1st choice. I chose 2 heavy 3300nimh batteries on motor box over lipos, simply due to needed weight.
3) The manual references a 50cc motor on page 9 and shows the cg to be accurate when your 50cc motor is 194mm from firewall to the prop mount on motor. What is even more confusing for any builder is in the text (item 22) they list the distance at 170mm. Well, we all know this is NOT A 50CC plane, so this obviously is totally all incorrect.
Since builders will be using a different variety of motors and cowl positions..the CORRECT and safest CG is on the front of the wing tube.
