Yesterday was possibly the most unfortunate day I have ever had. A series of terrible mistakes during an fpv flight led to the loss of signal between me and my axn floater I have been working on for months. I forgot to record the flight, didn't have a spotter, and hadn't installed a buzzer on it yet. The last image I saw in my goggles was the plane going nose down into what I thought was a field. I was crushed to say the least and after many hours searching around the neighbors farm land I called it a night. (I was flying right before sundown, another mistake.) Low and behold I received a call from a golf course 3 miles away from where I was flying saying that they had found my plane wreckage near the 3rd hole. Thankfully I do not have to buy all new electronics. Moral of the story: don't make the mistakes I made and most important of all: PUT YOUR INFO ON THE PLANE. It is the cheapest form of protection and does wonders. Happy flying.

I was flying my AXN Floater fpv this morning and accidentally bumped the throttle up to high for a brief second before quickly bringing it back down. The motor cut out at this point and I had to glide in for a landing. Below you can see the black marks on the coils. I was using a 6x4 prop at the time so dont know if that's what did it. So the question is should I buy a new axn motor or has any one had any luck with a different motor? I obviously don't want the same thing to happen with a new axn motor. Also I have been looking into buying a bixler 2 for fpv since it has so much room. Which should I do?

Here are some pictures of my new base station configuration. I had some old diy quantum goggles hanging around so I took out the screen and used it to preview the dvr footage and now have separate video outputs for my goggles so all of the dvr stuff doesn't obstruct my view. I use 2 1000mah batteries, one to power the dvr, and one to power the screen goggles and receiver. Hope to test it this weekend!

I have been working on my axn floater fpv plane for a while. It has been through many repairs and mods and is now in my opinion a fairly reliable plane. I have moved the servos to the rear, mounted the dual antennas facing up and removed the decals. As for the base station I have compacted everything into a small box for easy transportation.

I have started a new FPV project using the axn floater from hobbyking as the airframe. So far things have been going pretty well. For controls I have been using a stock turning 9x which has been failing me at long distances so I have ordered a frisky module and receiver shown below. Critiques on my antenna placement are welcome btw. For the fpv side of things I use the 5.8 quantum bundle from hobbyking. It's cheap but my video has been pretty solid and my controls have been the limiting factor. I have also been having problems with the elevator so I plan to move the servo back near the tail. Any ideas to increase range of help the axn are welcome. Thanks!
