Lotta water under the bridge since my last post, have really enjoyed myself over the summer. Had several changes of scene, went to two fly-ins and stayed over in my caravan.
The first fly-in was a 60th anniversary of a model club, as it fell on my 65th birthday I just HAD to go and really really enjoyed myself lovely weather and some great planes old timers right the way up to jets. Had (quite) a few beers and freedom, asked the wife if she wanted to come she replied I don't want to watch fat old men playing with toys. Now I know why she goes to watch the matches at the local rugby club!!!!
That was the north cotswold MAC fly-in, if you can buy RC Model World ( a UK Mag) the november issue has some pictures in it.
The second one was 5 days, the Hastings model flying club, they own their own field and once again there were some magnificent planes there including a prototype 1/5 or 1/6 scale ( 20 odd feet wing span) B-29 powered by electric. The only problem with the site is it's close to the coast and gets quite windy but I still managed to get the old timers up for some circuits.
Once again managed to swallow a few beers and some great piss taking.
Now I've just about finished a black horse ultimate bipe. I've put a saito 125a up front with a 16x6 prop and have yet to fly it. I also have a ripmax Wot 4 ARTF which is a classic design from the early 80s it's marketed by Ripmax over here but if you get the chance try one you'll be extremely pleasantly surprised, I know I was, it's very well built and has an undercariage mounting system that looks like it'll handle a few rough landings unlike the usual artfs which seem to regard u/cs as dollies.
BTW I've built 5 or 6 of the kit wot 4s since 1982 so you can tell I'm a fan.
I wonder how long it'll be before I get back posting regularly on this blog.... just in case Merry Xmas and a happy new year to all my readers
