Completed this morning ..
I decided to glue the wing in ..

The weight came in at 110.4 grams ready to fly ( Flying weight )

I used 5 minute epoxy to glue the wing , but epoxy needs to cure ...
So I also used some Hot glue to hold the wing and create some load bearing points ..

It's warm again , ok hot ! Not as bad as days past , but with cloud it's humid warmth .. ( My Fav ) ( Not )

Just need to go out and do some glide or glud ( smack the ground ) tests ..

I've finally finished my build, setup and review of the Eachine Tyro79 in text/picture format.

Given the spec I was expecting it to fly like a pig but it was much more nimble and certainly more effecient that I'd expecting.

The camera started off ok then lost the ability to see in shadows at all so I'd budget $15-20 for a replacement. Is it still a good deal for $95-100? I think so but it is closer to the price of other 3" PNF quads.

Glue & Fly Series - F-22 Mini V3(B) - Flight 27! She's all Trimmed Out!

Here is a link to the Video:

I have this Parkjet all trimmed out and have the CG well balanced ;-)
The plane tracks extremely well and stays where you put it.
The Nose stays nice and level with abrupt Full Throttle at level flight ;-)
I measured the CG after getting back from the Flight Session and it is located 45mm forward of the front of the Prop Slot, or 11mm back from the top of the cutout for the Servos.
That's approx. 10mm further back than when I performed the Maiden as it felt a tiny bit nose heavy.
I have found that it takes time getting used to a completely neutral balance on the CG.

See you in the Air!

Talking about how much $banana I had invested in the R3 project motivated me some !
$13 ozzi banana in materials and another $19 in electronics . Yes , that's about what you pay in Oz for a pack of smokes ..
So it's not the most heavily invested in project , and certainly no outsourcing of funds was required

Control rods were formed , servos located , the receiver was soldered ( servo pins ) and then bound to my Jumper T12 .
After some quick checks for control surface throw , a quick adjustment was made on the elevator .
Once I was satisfied , the servos were glued in place .

The fuse is pretty much done !

1) Still need to make a canopy ..
2) After a canopy is made I can select a suitable 1s battery and play with the wing location for that all important CG

It's hot outside , and cloud just rolled in about an hour ago driving up the humidity , so it's a steamy hot ^*&%^$ outside !
Important thing is to keep pushing the project forward .. After all it's costing me ! ( )

Here is a plug for what is fast becoming my go to budget 4ch receiver .. ( Discounted At The Moment )

Not happy Jan ...

NOT HAPPY JAN - Yellow Pages Ad (0 min 30 sec)

Just finding it hard to motivate myself !

Costing the R3 Project ... ( Attempted Motivation )

I thought about how much the R3 project was setting me back financially ...

The most expensive component is the Rx at some $12 ozzi bananas ..
The next most costly is the servos at some $7 ( Pair )
The 6mm Carbon Tube is about $3.50
Control rods ( music wire ) $1.50 for two
About $2 worth of Depron
Maybe $2 for the control horns
? off laminating film , lets call it $1 so we have a figure ( More like 10c or 20c / maybe less )
$1 worth of glue
20c worth of fiberglass
$2 of balsa
? scrap carbon

So there you have it .. $32 ozzi bananas ... Less the battery ..
The average cost of a pack of cigs is $30 ozzi bananas ...
So the project is worth one packet of cigarettes ! ( I don't smoke ) , and no I wont trade ..

The cost of the R3 less electronics
$13 ozzi bananas ...

Ran one pack pair through this. When I first plugged it up the change gear servo did not work out of box so traxxas sent me a new one. Routed it through box opening.

I do already have the 2300mm FMS Fox Glider - which is a very good, well made, glider.....
I partly got the 3000mm version as that is more ;serious'... more capable.. plus uses the same 6S batteries that my 80mm EDF's use, so taking the Fox with them (EDFs) means that if I don't fly the jets as it is too windy, or some reason, then I can just fly the Fox - as gliders don't care too much about wind levels.
Of course I can just take it and fly it anytime also....

Near 6Kg AUW!! Wow.....
My 4m DG-808 (FlyFly... and broken for now!) is under 4Kg AUW ! But it is a performance thermaling glider... not aerobatic...

The FMS Fox got a lot of good reviews, and nothing seen to be negative about it. Too bad that doesn't always mean a lot anyway! But what can you stuff up on a 'simple glider' anyway??? Thus it should be good/fine.... and the FMS 2300mm version is, so...

Interesting is that is uses NO GLUE.. and NO SCREWS... to assemble it. It is all done via plastic keys parts and sprung clips to lock them into place. This makes transporting it easy (as easy as per any), but FAST EASY assembly at the flying field..... and to disassemble it and pack it up! This was another reason it seemed a good thing to have....

Damn it's hot ...

Everything is starting to look like a corn chip , and sound like a corn chip ..
Even SPF 50 is not cutting it !
Where the hell do you buy SPF 1000 ( ? ) , I am really sick of burning .. ( Might need lead based paint to protect one self from the UV )

Where are we ?

R3 ( Ripit 3 )

Control surfaces are mounted on the boom , control horns put in place ...
Just need to make some holes in the tail boom and I can connect the control rods to the Rud/Ele ..
Then locate the servos , solder up a Rx ( FS2A ) and start playing the CG game ..

Yep Les Amis,
Pas le temps de visser ? Clipsez !
