The lion got dehydrated & was walking by the end. The robot burned 300mAh/mile with 9Ah of batteries & food. Went back to the original idea of a soft starting throttle which goes into auto when it's 100%.

Inductive charging for the paw controller is just as problematic as a JST connector. The mane problem is all 5V phone chargers have protections against a number of conditions. If there's no load for a certain amount of time or if there's a load for too much time, they shut down. You have to use an ATX power supply, a dedicated raspberry pi power supply, or a mean well, which are all too big & expensive.

Breezy Hill's "1/2A Day"

One day of cold, damp air, followed by one with warm, sunny skies, both with plenty (and I mean PLENTY) of engine tinkering, jokes and laughter...and great food served up by President Ronnie.

Nitro was burning and castor oil was slinging as assorted versions of Leroy Cox's tiny engines either screamed or sputtered, or both, with new airframes and old dinosaurs taking to the air.

Allen Bagg had a small fleet of planes, but had some engine problems, and did some "mix and match" with their parts, giving him a hyper-speed combat wing to fly on Sunday.

Leo's typically high performance engines hauled their planes around their circles, with some crazy great stunts by his Medallion .049-powered Ringmaster flying on 60 FOOT LINES!!!!
His Medallion apparently has an identity crisis, and thinks it's a Tee Dee.

Allen also rounded up some prizes, with SIG sending a Mini Zilch kit and two bottles of SIG bond glue, along with Brodak giving dealer cost on a Baby Clown.

Mixed in with this are some balsa and foam gliders which will be given to kids who can attend our little get-togethers.

Monday 19th April 2021 flight history was made! The first aircaft to fly off world!

Ingenuity coaxial helicopter succeded with its maiden flight after days of delay while new flight software was tested and uploaded.

Here to celebrate is Perseverance at Jesero Crater, Mars flying site for PhoenixRC Simulator.

Made from the 360 deg panorama recently taken by Perceverance while it waited for Ingenuity to fulfill her destiny.

I shall post a demo video in due course but to meet the historic day the site is posted with some screen shots for now

I apologize in advance for this long video, but the full video was just too much fun to watch in its entirety. I had also already been flying 4 minutes into the lipo pack until I asked Mike to catch some close flybys with his iPhone 11. He just ended up recording the whole thing which actually turned out great.

The Dancing Wings Hobby Eagle 1.2m is definitely in a category of its own with it’s unique fun factor. And with the current setup (specs and info described within 6 seconds into the video), this evil eagle is more than able to “doppelgäng” the real thing.. that is, until you see it barrel roll, loop, immelman, split-s, fly inverted, and zoom climb straight up LOL.

This bird is a keeper!!

XK A430 No2 Maiden Flight ( 2nd - 430A ) (8 min 23 sec)

Yes , got me another ( 2nd ) XK A430 .
Set it up very carefully for the maiden .
Trimmed the rates back to soften the controls .

Went out this morning to only sort out the stabilized mode .

Why = It was cheap ! Less than $100 Aus bananas with free shipping . Seller is in Sydney and has a few more .

Wow , a different animal compared to my first A430 .

A) Rates for stabilized mode ( 6G ) want to be 100% , expo ? I went 20% for now . It's like it's on rails when set up !
B) This one seems to have attitude hold , does my first one have attitude hold ???
C) Seem like completely different animals .

Anyways , one to fly and one for under the bed !

A430 - A real little rocket , reminds me of a Pylon racer !

For years I flew the socks off my ST Models DG1000, taking it everywhere... camping trips, aerotows (for lunchtime flying), picnics, road trips to visit family, you name it... until it got all tattered and worn out. Still in serviceable condition, and with some life still left in it, I gave it away in my moving sale before our move to Idaho last fall.

At some point years ago Tower Hobbies had a close-out sale on these, and I wisely grabbed a second kit at that time, as a back-up in case anything should happen to my active DG1000. I rarely do this. The only times I've ever bought a second kit of the same model was when the thought of not having one could not be tolerated. Such is the case with this lovely foamie electric glider. I put this one on par with the now classic E-flite Radian for good honest flying characteristics and for the ability to thermal easily in light lift. With the up-and-go electric motor stowed away in its compartment, the DG1000 looks like a glass scalie up there, too! So now that spring is here, I pulled out the backup kit and put it together. Ah... that's better.

Update on my Tamiya TNX/TGN-03 Electric Conversion.

Ever heard of B-Unstoppable? It was the first tank drone ever built, although it hasn't quite hit the market and the design was quickly copied by a China toy maker and sold as another model. Years have passed and initial inventor and designer not only patented his project but has updated the design, tech, performance and user experience, hence the X-TankCopter was released.


Sporting a lightweight body, coreless motors and rather large 900mAh 1S LiPo battery, the whole drone weight just 131grams! From here things are getting even more interesting as the air frame will collapse from built-in pivot points to protect it from crashes, while in front of the drone we will find a 720p HD camera tied up to a WiFi digital transmitter enabling real-time FPV with the aid of the provided smartphone app.

I retired from Boeing last June, and moved out to Caldwell, Idaho in October. No sooner did I start meeting the guys at my new R/C club (Nampa Model Aviators), but that I ran into a guy who was selling a Sky Raider homebuilt, with a Rotax 503 DCDI engine. I've always been a big fan of the little Sky Raider, so I offered to buy it practically the same day I went and looked at it. What a nice turn-up!

Empty weight is 340lbs, and gross weight is 900lbs, so with its 50hp engine it can easily lift my portly frame skyward at well over a thousand feet per minute. It takes off at 40mph, climbs at 50mph, cruises at 70mph, and lands at 30mph. Not exactly a racer, but perfect for the kind of flying I plan on doing. Poking along at a thousand feet up and enjoying the view from up in the air is what it's all about for me. What a fabulous little flying machine. My biggest toy airplane yet!

Building a wing that I haven't made in 6 years. 10mm EPP, 800mm width.
Found out that by wiping EPP with alcohol makes packing tape stick better. Had to tape top and bottom
halves of wings together long enough to hotglue the leading edge.
LE and TE look fairly seamless except for a few spots that I will glue together.

Next step is laminate entire wing to make it crashproof. Waiting on .05 mm laminate film as I want it as light as possible.
Will use 2206 motor and 7 or 8 inch prop. Should be a fairly light wing.
