Banggood sent me the Eachine EV900 FPV goggles to test / review . Now I was not really sure what to expect having watched a few other reviews and the reviewers being less than kind to the EV900's . Almost every review out there complains about the goggles riding the bridge of the nose and I would have to be no different in this regard . Though for me it's not nearly as bad as others claim . I can see the screen just fine and only the very bottom of the screen is obstructed . The other thing I did was to add stick on foam to soften the load on my nose .

Is the problem as bad as some claim ? For me , NO . But to be fair it is annoying .

The very first thing I did on receiving the EV900's was to plug them in to my graphics card VIA HDMI and yes there is a HDMI cable included . I really overdosed myself on the experience playing FPS and watching youtube video . I totally lost track of time and I have no idea of how many hours I spent with the goggles on , but it was long enough for me to be exhausted / dehydrated and some what nauseated . Too much of a good thing , and I think I now understand how some one could die in front of a computer . It is an addictive experience for sure .

Eachine EV900 FPS sample VIA HDMI cable (1 min 38 sec)

The second thing I did was test my FPV models , I have two micro quads and the WL Toys 12428 buggy set up for FPV . I have to tell you the image quality is outstanding...Continue Reading

Eachine EV900 FPS sample VIA HDMI cable (1 min 38 sec)

FPS = First Person Shooter ( gaming )

Sent for review / testing by Banggood

Wow , I was sent the Eachine EV900 goggles for review / testing and one could no help but notice the HDMI connector ( and included HDMI cable )
So what is a boy to do ( a old boy )

I still play games ( and why not ) , so I connected the HDMI cable to my graphics card so I could play looking through the goggles .
The video sample provided is close to what my aging eyes see .. ( Which is far better than other goggles I have used without correction )
In fact I am very pleased with the color , and sharpness ..
The camera is @ 14x zoom so there is IQ loss , so bear that in mind . But it actually reproduces at this setting what my aging eyes see .

I spent way too much time playing with the goggles on ( lost track of time ) , not really sure how healthy it is as it leaves you some what detached from the real world which can be disorientating . ( We are talking hours here ) .

I also did some youtube ( VIDEO ) which was surprisingly good .. So if you had a small DVR-Player with HDMI , you could watch movies on the go .. The Eachine EV900 also has a headphone jack ( havent tried it yet ) , so you really could shut out the outside world if you wanted to .

Are the Eachine EV900 a replacement for your computer monitor = NO ! in no shape or form would I say so .. Could...Continue Reading

Video - movies anywhere !

Sent for review by banggood.com ( Thank you - these are going to be fun )

Previous post = Part 1 ...

Product page @ banggood

I bound the Rx to my Taranis Q x7 = Easy .... And then made a range test box . ( Pictured )

Bind process ....

I went into the menu of the Q x7 and created a new model ..
Then set the transmitter to D8 ( 1-8 ) mode ...
Then set the Tx into bind mode :

With the Tx in the bind mode :

Rx .
I had connected a UBEC to Ch1 and a servo to Ch4 ..
Before applying power I press and hold the bind button and whilst holding the bind button apply power to the Rx .
The bind is almost instantaneous ...
I let go the bind button and disconnected power to the Rx ... ( Get the Tx out of bind mode )
Turning on the Rx again - it was bound to the Tx ...

Putting the Tx into range test mode , I started walking away from my range test box .
Facing the Rx I made it to the maximum distance I can get from the Rx ( 60 meters ) ... And there was no issue ..
Facing sideways there was no issue ..
But turning away ( 180 ) from the Rx so that my body was between the Rx and Tx I did lose the signal ...

I have included some pictures :
So my mistake was to build it the way its supposed to be built ...

Though I think I did a good job of building it ..
Weight without battery is 90 grams and 130 grams with the 700mAh 2s battery .

My target was 100 grams , and building the Spirit 600 as per instructions , not going to get there ...
My first 600 came out at 114 grams dry and 164 grams with a 900mAh 2s battery ..
164 grams for a 600mm wing ..

Obviously the 2nd time around I have shaved weight , not enough (?) , well .

Today I got a really small 4ch Rx ( FrSky ) , there is a 6A ESC in the mail ( I hope ) .
I did go online and found a small 3000kv motor ( 6A ) ...
I am tempted to find even smaller servos ( $ ) ...

If banggood puts the wing on sale , I will probably buy another and try for 100grams .....

Spirit 600mm from Banggood ..

Some hindsight now that the wing is finished ..
I built it as it was designed to be built = WRONG !
My goal was to go light , I did that .. But the weight is in the wrong place ..
It takes a 700mAh 2s to balance the wing .. ( Makes it heavy )

What is required is a complete redesign or relocation of components .
The motor needs to go where it goes ..
But everything else needs to be located near CG ..
I would suggest burying the servos in the wing ... ( @ CG location )
Have as much weight around CG as possible , so a smaller battery can be used ...

Also the 1306 4000kv is overkill .. ( who does not want overkill )
@ 50% throttle with a unknown battery ( voltage state ) I had 1 to 1 power to weight ...

Will there be a 3rd Spirit 600 ( ?????? )
I would want an even smaller motor , maybe 3000kv . Maybe a 6A ESC .
These 3.7g servos seem to be enough , 9g is overkill .
Smallest 4ch Rx ...

Put as much stuff @ CG as possible .. That way the battery has to only offset the weight of the motor ( and ass end of model ) ....
Hmmmmm , now I think about it ( Hindsight )

Holly Smoke Batman !

Everything fits like it was laser cut .. ( Its crazy )

The 3.7g servos fit perfectly , I don't think you need to glue them , perfect tension fit .
The motor (?)

The motor is mounted on a round servo arm with two screws ...
So there is a round protruding mount for the servo , + two screw heads ...

At the back of the wings fuse there is a fiber mount . With a hole in the middle ... I drilled this out to 7mm to accommodate the servo mount ..
I then drilled two more holes for the screw heads ..
The motor fits so perfectly that it is held in place by tension .. You could pick up the fuse by the motor shake it and the motor will not come off .

I cut a slot into the fuse to bury the ESC out of the way .
After test running the motor the ESC remained cool ( 8A full throttle - 12A ESC )
The only thing to warm up was the motor .. My guess would be 8A would be close to max with this motor .. ( I think its rated 10A continuous )
So thats where I am at the moment ( ATM ) .

Next I have to install the Rx , locate it in the fuse and bind it to a Tx .. ( Then test everything - set up servos ) ...

Waiting for ESC's ...
The 6A ESC was not going to cut it ...
So I ordered some 12A ESC's just in case ..
Funny thing , I was sure I had a 10A ESC ... ( I did , I found it in a box when looking for props ) ...

Oh well !
Motor is soldered directly to the ESC now ( yes I checked direction )
With the 5x4 prop it pulls 8Amp @ full throttle ( 2s ) ..
The thrust is monumental for such a small motor ( I was surprised )
I expect half throttle will fly this wing without problems ..

I did have to balance the prop ( 4000kv x 2s - lets call it 8v = A lot of RPM )
Next I will graft the ESC and motor into the air frame as well the servos and Rx .. Then bind and test ... If everything is ok I will glue up the wing ...

I am torn now , because an even smaller motor should fly this wing ...
I think a 4 or 5 amp combo would do the job as long as you don't pile on weight ...
