Since I'm not going to compete in BBCC 9 (not a conversion contest anymore), I've decided to revise and rebuild my SU-25, taking what I learned from the original build and flight and incorporating that into the new one..here's a pic of the first one

Since BBCC 9 doesn't start until September 1, and the fact that I need to rebuild the foamie fleet, I'm gonna cave in to my friends Darrell and Graham and build a Vulcan. Will use what I learned from the F4D Skyray and keep it simple....Will cut her out this morning

Done

She was too nose heavy, with a lot of torque roll......no damage, so I changed the motor out to a 3530 1200kV (had to build some standoffs)....will try again tomorrow

Flew this thing yesterday...even at 20% throws and 50% expo she was like trying to fly an epileptic monkey on meth

Video of the Flite Streak......a bit of Dutch Roll and porpoising....... need to make the couple longer, and probably add an inch or so to the nose as well....she's touchy.......this flight was all on low rates (< 50% throws and > 50% Expo)...but she's fun to fly

Flite Streak (2 min 15 sec)

Done......had to rework the cowl.....used up some of the half rolls of MonoKote, which seemed fitting for an airframe I cut from the leftovers from other builds.......for you fishermen...she looks like a Kentucky Lake Crappie Jig....If I can't see this thing in the air, I'm gonna start building boats.....LOL

Spec's: 3542 1200kv motor, 60 amp ESC, 2600 mah 50C 4S battery, 8x4 APC-E prop, ES-3104 servos, 42 oz all up

48" WS version of the venerable Flite Streak CL conversion to 4 channel RC.....modified the airfoil, moment couple, and tail volumes...I know that it's been done before, but the aircraft from RCM didn't maintain the lines of the original....Fuselage this week...

Drawings haven't been annotated, and probably never will be........Continue Reading

ready to cover........made a mistake orienting the grain for the fin.....trying to maximize balsa use and just plain forgot...grain is supposed to be vertical.....laminated 1/64th birch plywood on both sides of the fin....sanded the edges
