I acquired this one from Dave Walter at the Walter RC Park in Saranac Mi, and it was just the cut foam only. It is a West Michigan Park Flyers "McFoamy" but it was one of the early kits which is no longer produced. I finally received the missing wood and carbon fiber parts for it and started the assembly yesterday. Covering is colored packing tape I had leftover... Uncovered assembly Pics are from the WMPF site as I did not take any during the assembly...

A Modified Flat Build P-40

I thought I might be able to do a few mods to the Flat 40 and give it a bit of an upgrade. Going to do a Flite Test Motor Pod. Not to sure on what to do about the white areas at this point. Maybe colored Markers to try and match the printed colors. We will see....
Stay tuned... Mudman1959

Just a quick built F22... 21 inch wingspan... Cut the plans out, traced them on the foam and cut the pieces out. All done this afternoon. Power is a 1350 Kva motor turning a 6x4 APC Prop with a 30 amp ESC on a 3 cell Lipo. Should move along nicely!

Plans are for a Nano F22 that I blew up to 400%

Traded off the Zagi Fixx for a New Zagi... The Zagi HP... EPP Foam, 48 inch wingspan. The build to start soon!

Mudman1959

And the Build starts...
Got a chance today to start the build on my New ZAGI HP 48 inch EPP Wing. They have updated the kits with carbon fiber strips for the top and bottom of the wings to keep the "Ole Zagi Flap" to a minimum. It also has a Plywood main spar that gets reinforced with a carbon fiber strip. Mine came with a roll of Fiber reinforcement tape and two rolls of the colored tape. The hardware kit is very complete including the pushrods, pushrod control clips and plastic control horns, all good quality parts. I had a older Ducted fan laying around that has a great can motor, unsure of the KVA but I am sure it will turn a 5x5 APC on a 4 cell lipo with no problems , going to have to buy a few batteries. So after a bit of surgery it was removed from the fan assembly and now lives in the Zagi. The Plastic parts have all been updated to .060″ Styrene which is definitely stronger! This one should be a fun one to fly... Stay tuned

Well it flew... One round around the patch to get it trimmed in and then I threw the juice to it.... It torque rolled into the top of a tree and made it all the way to the ground. Only damage was one wingtip fin was MIA. The prop even survived!

A all original in the box ZAGI "Fixx"... Even has the ZAGI candy in the parts bags... Looking at trading it back to ZAGI for an updated ZAGI. This one is too brittle to fly but it is a complete kit maybe ZAGI can reproduce a new one out of better foam someday... This one has some repaired damage from being bounced around for a few years......Continue Reading

Today a Friend and Mentor to myself and many a RC person passed away and flew on to a Greater Flying Field... Michael "Crash" Hancock lost his battle with Cancer. He was a Gentle Giant and a Friend to all. He would give you the shirt off his back if you asked. When my Youngest Son came home from Afghanistan he was really having a hard time with his depression and memories. Crash and some of the guys in and who listened to the Crash Cast sent a bunch of RC goodies for my Son and got him back up and flying and back to more/less normal. Never did I expect this. The first time I met Crash was at the Crash in Fly in at Saranac Mi. several years ago... It was like I knew him forever and we talked for quite sometime. I had been listening to the Crash Cast for awhile and Crash with his deep Radio Personality Voice imparted upon us his RC Wisdom and Knowledge. Sometimes the show went awry but Crash took everything in stride.
He will be Greatly missed! So in the words he ended all of his shows with... "Get out there and build something, Fly something and enjoy this Great Hobby of ours"
Wings Up and Wheels Down Buddy... You will be missed but Not forgotten.

What would you do with a Old RC AM Transmitter? Well not much as it just a memory of by gone years in RC flying. BUT.... If you have a a good imagination you just might see something in that Old RC peice of junk. I took my Old Airtronics SR Series AM Transmitter and gutted it and installed the electronics from a Blue Tooth Receiver/Speaker unit by Rave. It took about an hour to make the transition from a store bought Boom Box to something a RC Nut like me would like... It sounds pretty good for a cheap cost. The unit was $30 from Best Buy and within an hour or so I now have something cool!

He's all of 17 or 18 and handles a RC Airplane with ease... If you have never seen or heard of him your missing a treat! This Boy can fly!!!!!! He puts his plane thru maneuvers, twists and turns... things a airplane should not be able to do. He is currently the "Ace" when it comes to RC Flying...

A short flight with the New power system... no problems during the flight but the landing went long and ended up in a scrub pile with 2x4 boards ripping a wing off. Well being it is built out of DT foamboard... I will just have to make a New Cuda, better, stronger and faster. But enjoy the video and please pardon my "French" part of the way through it... I have been following 3D LabPrint for awhile now... https://3dlabprint.com/ and when they came out with the Stearman I knew I needed one. I have a Dollar Tree Foamboard one but it came out rather portly. It flies good but it really needs more power. All of the electronics in it will go into the 3D printed one. One of my Co-workers at work just recently got into 3D printing and decided to print this plane. This one is going to be a Static display only. The next one will be mine and printed in the Blue and Yellow colors and fully flyable. So far I have most of the fuselage glued together but waiting on additional parts to be printed. I like the layout and the internal supports which makes for a sturdy construction while keeping the weight down. So far it weighs next to nothing. I do think the thickness should be a bit more maybe. The Detail is fantastic! More to come...

I acquired this one from a Friend this last year and decided to start putting it together. It came with a old power system "Brushed Motor" and a Ni-cad battery. Updating it to "Brushless" and a 3 cell Lipo. I need to finish taping the top and bottom of the wing first then it gets covered with a very thin mylar tape which was included in the kit. Going to use a 2700 Kva brushless motor on it turning a 6x4 prop and a 2200 Mah 3 cell lipo. Wingspan is 38 inches so this one should be a real screamer... The original motor mounted onto the preformed plastic center section so that needed to be modified to use the brushless motor. Added a spar to the center as this one will be going a bit faster than the original intended design... Hope it stays together! Stay tuned...

It was a nice day to be out in the build shed today so.... A new design was just released from Flite Test. I always did like the DR1 Tri-Plane so with a bit of free time available I spent half of the day and came up with this. I still need to do the cowl and the turtle deck yet and purchase some wheels that look more like the period correct wheels. More to come... Mudman1959
