Sky Angel has released the next four models in their exciting new series of mini war birds: the F4U Corsair, F4F Wildcat, P-40 Warhawk and P-47 Thunderbolt. If you have yet to hear of these little war birds, take a peek at the thread that covers the release of the initial four models here:

New Series of Mini War Birds from Sky Angel

I have been having a lot of fun flying the original releases: A Rare Bear, T-28, Spitfire and ME109. I seldom head out to fly now without bringing at least one of these wee war birds with me. They come out of the box with a powerful brushless outrunner and 20 amp speed controller already installed. The coolest thing IMO is that you can run either a 3S or 4S on these stock components. They are fast on 3S, and even faster on 4S!! The servos also come pre-installed. All that remains is to install a receiver and battery of your choice. I fly mine on Thunder Power ProPower G4 45C 3S 850s.

These next four releases are very similar in quality to the original four. The Wildat and P-47 are a little unique in that the wing and fuselage come as one piece. The F4U and P-40 require that you glue the wing to the fuselage. The assembly of these things goes almost as fast as they do once in the air.

Here are some studio shots of the next four models. Watch for in-flight photos and HD video, coming soon !!

Thanks Jalin!...Continue Reading

I recently received a few of the newest EDF power system offerings from AEORC. For those of you who may not have heard of AEORC, they are a company specializing in the manufacturing of EDFS that range in diameter from 27mm up to 70mm. The rotor in the smallest AEORC fan, the 27mm, has seven blades. The rest of the AEORC EDF rotors are all eight bladed impellers. More information and a discussion can be found in a thread here:

The various and complete ducted fans:27,30,35,40,45,50,64,70mm !!!

Many have been asking AEORC for EDFs in this size range. The HUGE popularity of the 50mm Sky Angel EDFs all but guarantees that these new fans will be very popular. The stock 50mm EDF and motor that come with the Sky Angel jets is good for around 160-180 watts on 3S, depending on the balance of the fan and also the quality of the lipo that you use when flying them. (I prefer Thunder Power!) The stock unit is a solid performer but most pilots eventually want to gain a little more power under the hood. While one may automatically assume that the obvious choice in selecting an AEORC EDF for use in a Sky Angel EDF is the 50mm unit, a few minutes studying the specs of the 45mm AEORC EDF vs the 50mm AEORC EDF is in order. Other worthwhile considerations include the fact that the stock JPower fan does not have a flared inlet lip as the AEORC EDFs do. This will probably require a little foam to be removed from the area where the fan mounts, to accommodate the flared inlet lip on the 50mm AEORC...Continue Reading

I recently completed a review of the PlaneAdrenalinRC Midget Mustang. Chet and Chris, the guys behind the name, asked me to edit down another video using some of their favorite music. Done! I hope you enjoy it:

PlaneAdrenalinRC Midget Mustang on 3S (4 min 15 sec)

More EXCITING News: PARC tells me they will very soon be releasing the next model in their Speed Shop series ... it is larger than the Mustang ... and faster! It is based on the World Models Nemesis, a 52 sized ARF. As I mentioned in the review of the Mustang, speed is quite addictive. And I think I have caught a touch of the speed bug for sure. (Uh, THANKS Chet and Chris!)

Looks like the same ones who are responsible for giving me the bug may be willing to give me another fix, as PARC is talking with me about sending over a Nemesis for review as soon as they have finalized the power system components?!
