helivsFMX found a strangely cheap Rock Racer "clone" of some sort for 92 bucks and I took a the website and it sure looks scammy. They also offer a SCX10II for 90 bucks. No-one seemed willing to take the plunge and I myself is straight up too poor right now to shell out for them, otherwise i'd totally take that bullet for the forum.

Anyway, helivs suggest a GoFundMe and I said I'd set one up and make a video if we reach the goal, so here it is: RCG buys suspicious vehicles together

If this works out, maybe we can buy suspicious stuff together again.

Cheers!

Yay! I got arsed! Also got some really decent footage from the get-go.

HBX Devastator + FS Racing Victory X mucking about (4 min 35 sec)

So for winter I got myself a HBX Devastator and the cheapest camera and receiver for FPV:ing, so I guess there will be a lot of indoor driving. Also got an idea on how to give the Victory X an upper-deck plate for mounting stuff. Might turn out very sweet.

Other plans for winter is what I guess most people do; maintenance. I need to fiddle with my diffs and shocks a bit. Maybe even see if I can fix that stupid center diff I got.

So my mate cracked the deck of his e-skate but since I have two, we started switching the decks around. I ended up with the deck from my first board, I broke a motor or something so it was just kept for parts any way. My mate got the deck from my then current board. It was such an easy job. Remove the trucks and the boxes for batteries and ESC and disconnect two XT30's.

Yup, Li-On batteries, 2,4GHz transmitters, banana plugs and JSTs for the electronics. It's an RC car. Kinda. The motors are huge. I'm a 200 lbs guy and I go up hills in 20 mph. Imagine what they could do with a RC Car.

I would love to rebind the board to my GT3C. The board has a wheel to control throttle and braking and while it works really well, a left-hand trigger is a bit more natural to me.

So I got myself an electric longboard about two months ago so the Victory X has been sitting on the shelf for most of the time. Took it out for a quick spin after I did.. something with it. Noticed that my front-wheel drive seemed a bit weak and assumed that it was a diff problem.

Got online and was finally arsed to order those nice metal diff casings I've been meaning to order. The casings arrived and I build, grease and install them. Just spinning the wheels works fine and it feels like the diff gears are much better meshed. But still low power in the front. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what the problem was. I mean, the car had been shelved for at least a month.

But the it hit me. I got a new radio a while back, the FS-GT3C, and when I installed the new receiver, I loosened the slipper a bit and forgot all about it. I am such a moron.

In other news, I've gotten a decent action camera. The biggest complaint about it has been that the audio is almost useless when it's in the protective case. Well... I film a lot of low footage on my board with the case on and you clearly pick up me and my friend talking almost 2 meters from the the camera. While we are riding. Also gotten a GPS drone and man do I wish I saw the Pro version before I ordered. So if anyone finds a source for a SJRC F11 Pro camera module at a resonable price, hit me up!

Shameless self-plug for useless and random video;

Finally got my new gears, installed them and even glued the front bumper back together. The truck is in one piece, everything works as it should. But I have two leftover screws.

Guess I could always re-grease the back diff and see if I get more leftovers.

I feel welcome, people are nice to each other and I totally feel a bit of love amongst the members. I also really like that so many people here buy vehicles from small and unknown companies just to see if it's actually any good.

And the lack of elitism, man do I love it. The hobby isn't very big here in Sweden and most people are Traxxas fan boys. A thread about getting in the hobby will always land in "Get a Traxxas". Even if it's for a three year old. Get a Traxxas. And if you even think about saying "But how about a nice cheap HBX, Feiyue or a WL Toys? They're great value for money and perfect for anyone to start with." you get like "Noooo, they totally suck and you will want a faster car soon enough".

I don't know man. This forum is proof that it isn't about size or speed. It's about fun. I enjoy reading the threads about modding almost as much as threads about trucks I want to buy or information that I need. And we have blogs! That's just awesome. There are so many things I just want to rant or rave about but doesn't really need a thread so this is perfect. If someone reads it, I know it will be another RC enthusiast who can relate and not just a nobody.

And then there are all of you great Youtubers here, talking with us regular folks and that's really neat.
