From my original kit it's the full size PDF of the Enterprise Gyro by Del Gatto from 1955. It was designed for .049 engines.... I keep trying to convince myself to build one as a parkflyer electric, but am still learning what may help it succeed better than the kit rotor head design.....

Enjoy,

Hi All -

Hope 2024 is starting off well for everyone...

My 1st flight of was today with my D250, a micro delta electric model..... Build link here : https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...uilt-and-flown

Today, i figured out i should tape the cell phone to the transmitter to film a D250 flight. It worked out Ok.... A little breezy and the D250 is somewhat underpowered but fun for me to fly. It's much more spry than the typical old timers i love most.

A really nice morning allowed a nice flight of the 200 Percent Jimmy Allen Thunderbolt electric RC..... A three cell 11.1 volt lipo replaced the former 2 cell 7.4 volt. That allowed enough power to make the model very enjoyable to fly. The hand held cell video is all i have for now to film....

Hi Everyone -

Wanting something other than the slow fliers i typically fly, This delta was on my mind for some time , so when the building board opened up, a simple drawing with paper, pencil and rule, was put together,

The model is all balsa , save for a carbon rod spar. Next time i will use carbon tube.... The symmetrical wing section is made using balsa strips lightly bent around forming spars on top and bottom of the wing. The leading edge is built up from three balsa strips.

The equipment is : LEMON RC receiver , two digital micro servos , a turnigy 10 gram 2000 kv motor , 8 amp ESC , 7.4 volt 350 mah lipo. The structure was lightly sprayed with tamiya acrylic yellow, then covered with doculam .

Flying weight is 4.5 ounces.... The 20" span model scoots right along with the eflite 5-2 prop. A three cell lipo and slightly smaller prop would really liven this model up but i erred by not widening the fuselage enough to squeeze in a 3 cell 350.... The 2 cell fits snug in the open bay.... The flights are lively enough for me for now

Sorry , i wish i could film this one with my cellphone, but that won't be happening for now, if ever....

Best regards,

This is my 1929 10-20 McCormick Deering warming up for a town parade here in Iowa USA.... The tractor was made by International Harvester and was named for 10 drawbar and 20 belt horsepower. I have owned this one since 2000 and it has been restored by me and is a very reliable old tractor.... The parade video was taken by my Sweetheart

My 1936 Mighty Midget was obtained some years ago from a friend's estate. The ignition timer was added from a parts engine in very poor condition.
The Ad is scanned from my issue of Model Airplane News September 1936 , showing the early Bunch mighty Midget kit engine, likely what mine was.

My Sweetheart and I took a mini vacation to my hometown and brought some RC planes to fly at the field...

The Colt 35 , Fast Eddie , Top Flite Schoolboy all electric and the 84" Chet Lanzo RC-1 with original 1938 Brown Junior .60 on spark ignition.

Fuel used in the Brown Junior is Coleman lantern ( white gas or close ) & 30% #30 non-detergent mineral oil.... One flip starts were the

rule...

Sorry, i was not able to get any video this weekend though....

The weather was decent ( not too hot, low wind ) Monday Sept 6, and gorgeous ( no wind, not too hot ) Sept 7th.

Best regards,

jeff

After a crankshaft pulley repair and reassembling the sheet metal, a running video was taken. This tractor has a magneto ignition without an electric starter. An " Armstrong " starter is used - a starting crank to turn it over carefully to start....

I built H.A. Thomas's FM RANGER back in 2016. I enlarged it from the 24" span rubber powered model to a 32" span park 250 electric rc model. It flew O.K. but did not respond well on " rudder" steering. The dihedral just did not seem to be enough. I learned to fly it with that limitation but it just wasn't fun, and other projects led to it gathering dust. This spring, tiring of the pretty design setting on the shelf, i decided to take action. The wing covering was removed, the wing placed on the scroll saw and panels were cut carefully from the center section. The TLAR dihedral increase took place. The wing was recovered in blue litespan and a test flight showed it to fly like a totally different airplane - it is now very responsive and fun to fly. Sorry, but no video has been possible but when i can take one, it will be added to this post. The FM RANGER is a pretty design published in the June 1950 Flying Models , designed by H.A. Thomas. If anyone builds it, make sure to have enough dihedral ( or ailerons) and enjoy a very streamlined nice flying bird.

i'm now considering building the 24" original size for electric rc.....

Bruce Mathews is running the Vintage Open Kit build..... VOK. My entry was the Thermal Dart enlarged 125% with electric RC. The 1.9 ounce flying weight 30 inch wingspan model runs a single lipo cell and is covered with Easybilt tissue..... use the link to watch a cell phone video, using my face on throttle

Lightweight RC plane - 125% Thermal Dart (1 min 27 sec)

It is a simple model but is giving me lots of fun, each flight is so slow .... The 300 MaH lipo gives 10-20 minutes flying time..... It is a calm weather flyer for early morning or evening.... an Indoor venue would be wonderful...

Build something yourselves and have fun,

In 1995 i finally was able to buy a new G-Mark .30 Twin from a local owner. Many years before that, i bought the Model Airplane News magazine the G-Mark .30 Twin review article was scanned from..... I have not ran this twin, it was new in the box. It seems to be a jewel.

Adrian's model engine site and other websites have a very complete G-Mark company history.....

Yesterday i purchased this built from original Topflite kit Schoolboy. It is finished in dope. The Cox .010 appears new. The model evidently was built to hang up and enjoy, there has never been RC equipment in it..... I will fly this model, after setting up for electric. The unknown builder was a craftsman, putting my builds to shame.....

Stay tuned,

Rather than repeat everything, here is the " Build Log " link to the Complete A Project 2020 ran by Sundancer :

My Megow Super Zomby electric RC conversion was built from Model Builder plans and the original and retouched plan and article on Outerzone. RChoper Gene did a wonderful digital rebuild of the plan and article as well. The Plan Page original article was nice to reference as well.... The ready to fly model weighs in at 18 ounces and is a real floater... First flights were this spring....

Polyspan and minwax clear along with some WBPU red for trim was used for finishing.

For anyone interested, please touch the link to go to my RCcgroups build log for the complete story, including a nice landing in a treetop.... Don't worry, the plane somehow worked it's way down with minor damage the next day. Phew.....
