Lightweight stretched X build...

Tree tops (1 min 25 sec)

The build consists of four 255mm Martian arms with only the center plates made out of CF. These plates are based on the glasfiber center plates you get with a Martian II frame.
It makes for a very light build. If only those arms were sold in 3mm it would shave off another 20 grams.
Motors are Eaglepower SA1807 2300kv. They can handle the Kingkong 6040's just fine on 3S and 4S.

A while ago I designed an FPV pod for an AIO system to be strapped onto the Syma X5C I did a brushless conversion on.

Finally the weather improved enough to bring it out for a testflight.

Syma X5C brushless FPV (3 min 2 sec)

The CAD files for this pod are downloadable from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2242660.
The picture above shows the 20 degree version, but the CAD files are flexible enough to allow for angles up to 60 degrees.

Even though sound recording is mentioned as an option in the DVR firmware the audio from the receiver is not physically connected to the DVR module.

Here is a simple hardware mod to enable sound recording on the DVR from one of the receivers. My mod does not take diversity into account so you should use the antenna which is supposed to receive signal most of the times (I presume the mushroom one) to screw onto the receiver where you tap the audio from.

Audio from the receiver is avaible on the third pin from right and has DC offset.

Audio input on the DVR is on the middle connector pin 5, follow pinout of the Eachine ProDVR which is basically the same...

A while ago I converted an old Syma X5C to use 2S lipo and installed an H8 mini FC with silverxxx's excellent firmware on it. That thing flew great for a bit, but soon it became apparent that the pinions and the motor mounts did not like the added stress very much so I decided to up the ante a bit. I had another X5C laying which I originally bought for spares, but I decided to use that one to build a brushless X5C..
