Had a great crowd on this last Saturday. However the wind was weak and out of the East. We all hugged under the popup tents and swapped RC stories. Ray Alonzo came over from the West coast (Tampa) and joined us for some slope flying. Because of the heat and poor conditions we left early, about 1:15PM. On the way down the hill, we found a storm cell South of the hill was “pulling” a Northerly breeze over the hill. DJ and Jose had already discovered it and were having a great time. We all stopped, found a 10-12mph wind, joined up and flew until 1:50PM. We congratulated ourselves on our good luck and then headed down to the Peachtree for lunch.

I hate to be repetitive, but another "meh" Saturday. We ended up in the SE Bowl. Had a slight breeze, but it was quite hot and humid. We had two new members join us. They had a good time, despite the conditions.
Afterwards, we headed down to Amos's house to assist his daughter with sorting and accessing his planes (which looks like a month long project).

Our Dear friend and fellow flier, Amos Chirappa passed away this week. Amos had been with the club since the beginning. He was one of those responsible for making the club what it is today. His love for the hobby was evident in the way he was always eager to provide assistance or encouragement to new fliers. Amos was full of knowledge, always had great tips and suggestions for his fellow RC pilots. He will be sorely missed, our "hill" won't be the same without him.

Semper Fi,
Amos Nicholas Chiarappa

Saturday had predicted winds of 5-7mph out of the South to SE. Larry L, Buck and I tried to fly the SE corner and the South side. The lift was all thermal based and poor at best. We slid over to the West side where Paul and Larry S were winching.
Paul was already breaking down the winch and his thermal bird when we arrived.
We pulled a few slope passes on the West side. There was actually a light breeze on the West side. Again, it was all thermal based and very weak.
Not an exciting Saturday.

Another brutally hot weekend. Thankfully we had a 5-10mph breeze on the east side, along with some strong thermals. This gave us some great flying up till about 1:15pm. At that point, we had a 180 deg wind switch. Unless we wanted to run to the Westside (about ˝ mile distance) we were out of luck. So we packed up our chairs and popups a few minutes earlier than usual and headed down the hill.
