I've had a customised list of specials created for my by Banggood based on the RC Cars and FPV quads and parts I've reviewed and admire. I've weeded out the 'not really a special' prices and am left with the 34 in this list. Hopefully you find something that suits:

The XLF F16 is a Ready To Run (RTR) 1:14 scale 4WD off road Radio-controlled racing buggy. It notably includes a very large 550 sized brushless motor and a number of 'upgrade' metal components including suspension arms and knuckles. The brushed version as reviewed here retails for around $100 and has options with one or 2 batteries.

Here is my in-depth review and comparison to the highly regarded WL Toys 144001 with which it competes:

Here is my review on the Happymodel Crux3

https://www.quadifyrc.com/reviews/happymodel-crux3-review-and-setup-way-over-6-minutes-flight-no-sweat

Probably the micro of the moment in my mind. I had over 6 minutes of decent speed flight on a 3.5 year old 2s 450mah battery that wasn't that good when it was new. Tune is great out of the factory and the hardware is well matched but check out the link for more details.

Oh yeah, 14% coupon code at the bottom of the article if it smokes your tyres.

I love the WL Toys 144001 1/14 scale RC Buggy and have written a lot of articles on tuning and upgrading it here. It is inexpensive and runs well stock or is easily upgraded to brushless power which offers better speed and acceleration as well as battery life. But how does it compare against the car on which is was based, the LC racing EMB series on which the 144001 was (let's face it) copied from?

So surely you know by now that the 144001 is a budget copy of the LC racing EMB-1 but with a bigger brushless 550 motor and integrated ESC/receiver and no slipper clutch. This means that WL Toys have been able to grab a big slice of the popular RC car market at a price point of $70-80 for the 144001 vs $200ish for the LC racing equivalent. But this is clearly not a fair comparison so what if you take the brushless upgraded 144001 with a raft of replacement parts, tally up the cost and then compare? Would you still buy the 144001 to upgrade or would you just got straight for the LC racing? I'll break this down by price and performance in order to give you the clearest information to make this decision for yourself and my opinion I what I would (and did) do.

The FUS X111 Pro is a fully ducted micro 2.5 inch quadcopter capable of carrying a small HD camera for safe and stead HD recording. It differs to other products in the market by being considerably lighter and cheaper. Presently it retails for $99 on Banggood which is substantially less than other cinewhoops. Is it anygood? Surprisingly the answer is yes, even carrying a full sized runcam 5 HD camera. Full review and setup is here:

I've just been given this massive list of over 100 products that have been discounted with coupon codes at Banggood. Most of the deals are really good so won't try to summarise here but there are a good selection of new and popular bind and fly quads, components, radios, goggles and camera rigs.

Many of these are the best price I've seen so it's worth a look. Open in google sheets for a better view.

If you want 5-10mm more wheelbase for better straight line stability have a look at the guide I wrote below. It doesn't require any new parts, it's quick to do and easy:

Just quickly Banggood are clearing out the Eachine Novice II ready to fly kit that includes the toothpick-style quad, controller, FPV Goggles and batteries for only $100. That is crazy cheap. Link is here: Eachine Novice-II 1-2S 2.5 Inch FPV Racing Drone RTF

Another good clearance product is the 3 inch ultralight diatone GTB329 at only $99. Again, this looks like a clearance price. Link is here: Diatone GTB 329 Pro Cube AIO 122mm 3 Inch 2S FPV Racing Drone

The WL TOys 144001 is excellent value for money but there are a number of quirks, one of which is that the tyres are not especially grippy on much else than hard packed clay/dirt or carpet. I've found two sets of off-road tyres/wheels that are compatible with the 144001 in that they physically fit and just as importantly don't upset the gear ratio significantly. Here are my findings and more importantly recommendations:

The WL Toys 144001 is a great car but an upgrade to brushless power makes it even better. I've found a unicorn pinion gear that allows you to do so without any slotting of the motor mount.

All the details are in here:

Here is my install guide and review for some of the metal parts for the WL Toys 144001.

https://www.quadifyrc.com/rccarreviews/wl-toys-144001-upgrade-metal-part-upgrades

I've written about why I chose the parts I did, why I avoided the ones I did and which other parts I'd consider.

A full install guide with pictures is there too.

The below link is an extremely comprehensive brushless upgrade guide for your WL Toys 144001 buggy that will take you through EVERY step to install the brushless power system and associated parts. There are almost 60 photos and a full step by step guide to walk you through the process as well as a full parts list.

https://www.quadifyrc.com/rccarreviews/wl-toys-144001-ultimate-brushless-upgrade-guide

Benefits from this 2838 brushless setup over stockinclude:
  • Stronger acceleration
  • Higher top speed
  • Better front/rear and left/right weight balance
  • Lighter overall weight
  • Ability to run 2s or 3s safely
  • Much better battery life
  • Greater crash resistance since car carries less momentum.

If you are just looking for the 2838 motor combo it can be found here: $28 Brushless 2838 motor / 35A esc combo

My next free or budget upgrade article for the 144001 is up here:

https://www.quadifyrc.com/rccarreviews/wl-toys-144001-free-or-budget-upgrades-part-2

This time I've looked at
  1. Decrease the REAR toe in
  2. Set the droop on front and rear arms
  3. Improve the dampening in the rear shocks

If you are looking at the first article where I fixed the shocks, toe in, camber and lubed the diffs, it can still be found here

Hi Guys

I've written a step by step setup guide for the WL toys 144001 that has come out better than I was hoping:

https://www.quadifyrc.com/rccarreviews/wl-toys-144001-setup-3-things-you-must-do-before-you-even-turn-it-on

-Filled the diffs with grease, adjusting the turnbuckles and correcting the amount of fluid in the shocks. This will really improve handling and substatially increase the life of the diffs and shocks. Hope you find this useful

The Zeez Racing Combo is a F7 flight control and 4x60A BLHeli_32 combo that includes 4 plug and play discrete, addressable LED strips. It is in the standard 30.5mm mount size meaning it will fit 5 to 8 inch quadcopters. It can be considered a premium set based on the retail price of just over $100 but the cleverness in design and execution in quality make this stand out for me.

Here is my overview so far:

https://www.quadifyrc.com/reviews/zeez-racing-combo-f7-60a-review

I'll be working this into a powerful 6 or 7inch long range quad to take advantage of all this combo has to offer.

I've reviewed the new Emax Eco 1404 brushless motor for quadcopters here:

https://www.quadifyrc.com/reviews/emax-eco-1404-brushless-micro-motor-review

Read the review for a lot more detail but a TLDR version is they are light, smooth efficient and durable (so far). They may not offer the maximum power as some others but the efficiency and smoothness is worth it especially for HD recording like I wanted from this build.

I've just finished a rather large review of the ORT dual shield pro antenna for 5.8GHz FPV. It covers pros and cons specific to freestyle, racing, micro and long range plus I look a the behaviours you need to change to take most advantage of it.

https://www.quadifyrc.com/reviews/ort-dual-shield-pro-58ghz-antenna-review

This antenna is well worth considering if your time is limited for FPV and you want to maximise flight time. Because of this reason it is now my daily driver antenna.

Hope you find something useful in the review, enjoy!
