I f you have been following my blog/build on the DAW Mustang you might have notice a picture or 2 of something else being worked on .
Yes -a old school DAW 2m 1-26 .
The build has some modifications to the standard build of yesteryear :
First - I have cut the fuse down the middle to add a carbon rod for strength,
I also added a coroplast nose/spine to the front of the plane to protect the battery {I use LiFe batteries and I know that fire concerns are a very real hazard in other parts of the country and else where in the world } the plastic nose makes the servo placement easy and strong and should keep the shape of the nose intact even in the worst crash I could imagine

Second - I made the wing 2 piece along with a removable stab to make transportation/shipping easy { Thank You Jan for the modification Help ! }

Here is a photo dump of my progress :...Continue Reading

The XK A600 = Bag of Fertiliser !

Hmmmm ! Opening the box !

It is light , reasonably made .

BUTT and it's a huge BUTT ( Bigger than that )

The Tx is garbage ,,

Moving the sticks you go from no control surface movement to suddenly all the control surface movement

Oh dear ! I had a real bad feeling going to my CG test area ...

And that bad feeling was confirmed when I crashed the XK A600 over and over again failing to achieve anything near 10 seconds of flight time . Don't get me wrong , the XK A600 flew just fine in a straight line . But when you wanted to turn it just hunted Terrafirma . This is exactly the same issue as I had with the XK A800 with the factory Tx , only the XK A600 is like 10 times worse .

After sufficiently breaking the XK A600 to the point that I was left with no delusions about being able to fly the XK A600 I packed the broken parts into a pocket and headed home . ( Some foam bits were left behind ) ..
Conclusion = PITA ( Pain In The Asp )

Pictured is the XK A600 after repairs ...

Enter the Dragon ! ( Sorry no , just the Jumper T12 )

Jumper T12 and SFHSS ( Futaba Protocol )

Thankfully the bind process is relatively Painless !
The Rx board has a button on its side ..
Just power up the XK A600 and then push the button ( Max )
Now start the bind process in the Tx ( SFHSS ) Multi protocol or Futaba .

Thing to remember is = The XK transmitters send out a bind signal on start up ..
So every time you...Continue Reading

Test Flight #1 - WLToys F949 Cessna 182 New Nose Gear Strut

Here is a link to the Video:

Well, I tried to bend the Nose Gear Strut forward a bit to allow the plane to come to a stop in this rough terrain and not Nose Over and the Strut snapped in half.
The original Strut was .8mm diameter string steel and I replaced it with .9mm Welding Wire.
I just don't know if it will be stiff enough.
Time to test it out ;-)

For the time being switching over to here with the Demon build.
For all those who have commented so far on the build, thank you- all your comments have been welcome, No amount of jokes about vices or grandma's tables have been considered in this decision which was independent of that.

So, the second .020 adapted to it's backplate nicely, putting in a bunch of time on it's stand. Started easy, and settled into a 1/2 hour run after a little needle work.

Now it's time to turn to the Skylark.

RC Sailboat Keel Bags by AceWingCarrier

We are making along with our RC Sailboat Rig Bags a RC Sailboat keel bag for the removable keels on some of the RC Sailboats like the Dragon Force and the Kyosho Seawind and many more... We understand you want just as much protection of these components as you want for the rest of your Sailboats. We have designed the Sailboat Keel Bag to hold the Keel and the Rudder for safe transport to and from your sailing site.

For some New to sailing you might ask what a keel is:
The keel is basically a flat blade sticking down into the water from a sailboat's bottom. It has two functions: it prevents the boat from being blown sideways by the wind, and it holds the ballast that keeps the boat right-side up. The ballast is usually lead. There are different shaped keels, some are stationary fixed in one position and some work off of hydraulics or cables to bring the keel up and down allowing you to go into shallower waters… A pretty neat feature if you want to beach a boat or your just sailing through very shallow reefs.

The following is an Example of the Sailboat Keel Bag, along with the position of a keel on the bottom of a Sailboat and the Keel separated from the boat to be put into the Sailboat Keel Carrier. This will be listed with the RC Sailboat Rig Bags

After several false recoveries, it appears that I AM actually doing better...health-wise...so-much-so that I cranked up the heat out in the shop for a break-in of Matt's "Black Lynx" .049 (THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH AGAIN!!!)), along with my first test run of Bernie's .020 Pee Wee Backplate Assembly.

The Black Lynx was started up on Sig Champion 25% fuel, turning a 5-3 gray. I ran it for over 1/2 hour nonstop with refuels on the run. leaning it out to peak and back as the time passed. Toward the last 5 minutes, it was peaking in the mid 17k's, with good needle valve response.

While it may get some photo ops with the 2m B.O.T. before too long, it'll probably end up in my Cox Viper for this year's S.M.A.L.L. Fly-Ins.

THEN....I assembled an .020 with the new backplate I got from Bernie. I chose one of my healthier .020's, hoping for as little hassle as possible, and am proud to say it all went well.

The upper mounting holes are REAL snug for my #2 socket head servo screws, and I wanted a washer of some sort to keep them from digging into the plastic. So, I used a drill motor and Dremel to first, turn down the flange under the socket, and also rounded the flats of a couple #2 machine nuts.

Drilled out, the machine nuts became thick washers, and fit into the backplate's top two grooves pretty nicely. I know this all seems like a lot of fuss, and I'm totally prepared for someone to show me an embarrassingly easier way to do this. The little sucker looks good to me now though!

It started up after little coaxing, fired up and ran steadily...also for a 1/2 hour +. I'd lost my light, and was too lazy to set up an led lamp for the tach, but it was sounding like it was in it's zone.

Now, on to assemble another .020 and it's backplate for installation on my slowly moving Carl Goldberg Skylark project.

1) VD5M FrSky Rx ...

Ok , it was working ... Then it stopped working !
I purchased this Rx about 2 years ago and left it in a box .
Honestly , last few years I have had nothing but issues with FrSky receivers ..
So my SU-27 project has taken several steps backward because of this receiver .
I literally had to break the SU-27 to get the receiver out for test and evaluation .
It could be FUBAR or it could be something as simple as frequency offset .
I am replacing the Rx with something similar but DSMx .. ( No issues with DSMx )

2) Fly Bear F16 ...

FX-823 Stabilized Two Channel RC Thunderbirds F-16 Fighter Jet Flight Test Review (10 min 37 sec)

No no no ! I got the free flight version .
And hope to make it RC ..
The F16 Project = It's the same foam model less the toy Rc stuff ..

3) Got some more props in the mail ..

4) XT60 to XT30 converter plug came , now I can charge the battery for the XK X450 safely ..
No more risky business ..

The first version of the SG906 was pretty amazing and it is the only Aerial Photography quad that I still fly due to the GPS actually working exactly as it should . This time we have a 2 axis gimbal and some upgrades made to the Camera, 5G Wifi and software ( which is always good) and we even have some flashy Gif's (thats my trademark thanks very much ), could ............ could this be the ultimate budget AP Quad ????? If they would upgrade the cam to Firefly 4K or CaddX Tarsier quality this would be killer !

I just started flying RC airplanes the first week of November, 2019. I had actually tried over 10 years ago with cheap 3 channel planes, but was not very successful back then. I have been flying helis and quadcopters a lot since then, but got the bug to try airplanes. I had some success with flying quadcopters in acro but never really got good at it.

So the first plane I bought was an XK A430 four channel foam plane. I was successful in flying that one but also managed to crash it and do major damage on about the sixth flight. I don't know anyone around here that is into RC and as far as I know there are no RC clubs around, so I have always had to learn on my own. I do read a lot on RCGroups and pick up a lot of info from here, but that is not the same as having a competent person to teach you or show you what you are doing wrong. I learned a lot about repairing a foam plane from the A430 crash, but I had to order a new prop mount after putting it all back together. Still didn't know if it would fly right after the repairs, so I also ordered an XK A600 and received it about the same time I got the prop mount the last week of November, 2019. Main reason for ordering the XK planes was because I have an XK X7 radio I could fly them with, which is a little bit better programmable transmitter.

I had better success with the A600 and it helped me learn how to fly a plane. I have crashed it, but have only sustained minor damage. I liked the way I could fly it really...Continue Reading

This is a really small Rx ( FS2A Flysky protocol - thats the new flysky protocol , not the old 9x protocol ) = To be tested !
Mine measures some 18.7mm Long and 11.8mm wide .. ( It really is small )
Has a ? is it 4A or 5A brushed ESC built in .
Has solder pads for battery and brushed motor , or you can run VIA ESC source .. ( 5v Max )
Apparently you can have your cake and eat it !

This Rx is going into the brushed 450x flying wing ..
So hopefully some useful information shortly .
