CXD 1/16 D22/D32 Mini EV Review
Introduction
Hot on the heels of their 1/16 D12 Mini Suzuki kei truck, CXD has released the 1/16th Mini EV based on the (not much larger) SAIC-GM (Yes, that GM)-Wuling Hongguang Mini EV.
While it might seem like a weird subject matter, a vehicle few outside of China have ever heard about, these mini electric runabouts have actually taken China by storm; available for around $4,500, the Mini EV often outsells the Tesla Model 3 in its home market.
For $4,500, these road-legal electric runabouts have 2+2 seating, 1 airbag, no A/C (optional extra), 120km (74 miles) range, and a not recommended 120km/h top speed- this base version is what the D22 Mini is modelled after.
Pay a bit extra (roughly $5,750) to get the Mini EV Macaron, which features dual airbags, cuter colors, special rims and A/C. The star of today's review, the CXD D32 Mini EV, is based on the Macaron- because we splurge on these things, of course.
Only the rims, the lens design of the headlight and taillight, and the colors differ between the D22 and D32 Mini, everything else is the same.
Special thanks to Mr. Huang from WPL for sending me the review sample, and his support for my unbiased review.
