I decided to try modeling and learning sketchup. I can see it will be challenging. Here is where I started with a f16xl. Anybody who can offer any help on the subject is welcome to help. This will be where the dummies like me will attemp to learn how to go through and learn how to make a model in sketchup. Air X has offered to stop in and give me some pointers so I hope the rest of the CAD guys will too. Im not even sure where to start. It would be nice if Air X or someone could give the basic rundown of steps on how it should be done from importing a file in a 3 view to tracing to getting it to the printer or possibly to a laser cutter. I all ready can import 3 views and have been tracing some planes, messing around with layers and such.Well I sat here all night and have lost the latest Alpha Jet which I had traced the top and side view,in one button pushed accidently I think Ilost everything But will start again.

Thanks To Claus and Jonas for the Idea. I went out and purchased the biggest pump from my Local Walmart. Its a Whisper Quiet 30-60 gallon pump. At 22 bucks I said what the heck and did not feel like waiting and getting it on line. And Im glad I didn't. Im going to show you how to switch it from an air pump to a vacum pump. Which you should not have to worry about it getting too hot and burning up. Its a coil and magnets which ganged with a couple bellows makes a great vacum pump. Here is what you do you take the four screws out the bottom. Pull the lid off. slide the bellow out of the channel, be careful not to lose the orings that are on the white nylon. You will notice the small oring is on the magnet side. Simply turn the white nylon piece 180 degree so the large oring is on the magnet side, and slide it back in do the small with the other side and your done. Put the top on and you have a small vacum unit to vacum bag small parts ,ducting and what ever else you may want to build.

Well I decided to start a blog. I will be rebuilding my HET F18 It went in after the second flight from a servo that ripped loose off the inside of the fuse and went into a flat spin. It was tore up pretty good so I shelfed it for a few years and now I decided to rebuild it. As you can see from the pics the left side was tore up the worst. The front side up where the battery was was smashed, the left wing ripped off.the left vertical stab ripped off,the back tailcone was ripped off, and both elevons were smashed off but the fuse took the worst the elevons were ok. The wings suffered no damage. I just finished peeling all the covering with a heat gun and a ols solder iron. The wings I left along along with the elevons they will stay with the original covering. The rest will be fiberglassed. I also went and put fillets along the wings, stabs, lexes and they are drying. Next will be to go get some spackle to ppurdy up the sides of the fuse.
