I thought I'd take a break from my LOS (Line-Of-Site) Training and get in some FPV Fun!
The wind is pretty stiff at 5-6mph with gust to 8.5mph on the ground which means the wind above 20ft is more like 9-12mph.
I just received my Gemfan 8x4 APC Style Props and wanted to test them out on this plane.
They are much stiffer than the standard Gemfan 8x4 ABS Props and they provide more thrust ;-)
Acrobatics are much easier to perform with the additional boost in thrust!

Glue & Fly Series - Interceptor Micro V1 Flight with High G Turns, Loops & Rolls

I'm just having some fun with the "Glue & Fly Series" Interceptor Micro V1 ;-)

Wow! Very Fast & Acrobatic on just a 2S LIPO ;-)

Glue & Fly Series - Interceptor Micro V1 Flight #4 - High G Turns, Loops & Rolls (3 min 6 sec)

We left the Desert and headed to the Autumn Forest of the Midwest ;-)
The area I'm flying in is partially wooded and I decided to do some High Speed, High-G Turns, Loops, & Rolls above the Autumn Forest.
This is the most fun I've had yet flying this little plane.
This also shows more of the capability of this Tiny Parkjet!
Wind is out of the Southeast at 5-10mph.
Again the wind was not favorable for this Micro Parkjet that only weighs 107.8g.

Macfree F22 Smart Plane - DustOff Flight Compilation #1

Macfree F22 Smart Plane - DustOff Flight Compilation #1 (13 min 27 sec)

I haven't flown my Macfree F-22 Nano Brushless ParkJet for months, so let's throw it into the air ;-)
Some issues became apparent, my 1103 motor is on it's last leg as I used to get 5+ minutes of flight time, and one of my servos is hanging ;-(
It seems my voltage telemetry is off as well because it reports low power approx. 1 minute after launch ;-(
Well, perhaps a new servo and an 1104 motor is just what the plane needs....sometime in the near future ;-)
Oh, and sometimes you just have to argue with your transmitter, especially when it talks back ;-)

Well, mine required a bit more than "Glue & Go" ;-(

There are links in the Video Show Notes to most of what you will need to get this plane in the air.

Here are some issues I ran into:

The recommended Motor & Prop are a bit less than optimal, I would say a 2212 1400kv minimum motor with a 9x4.5 prop.
The build instructions have a couple of things out of order, do not glue on the top and bottom of the fuselage before installing your motor mount.
The Foam Hinges were coming apart before I started the build, install some type of hinges, I reinforced with tape hinges.
The Tail Vertical Stabilizer would move when actuating the Rudder and I had to reinforce that area.
The Landing Gear should be adequate for a smooth surface but not rough terrain as they are too fragile.
There is no tail wheel, just a carbon slat, this will not work on anything but a smooth hard surface such as asphalt or concrete.
I installed a ping pong ball for a tail wheel ;-)
I used the recommended 9g Servos (HXT900) and the cutouts had to be modified.
My tail section has warped foam and so my elevator is canted.
One of the Control Rods was way too short and could not be used, you...Continue Reading

RC Tip #15 - Micro Servo Connector Confusion!

RC Tip #15 - Micro Servo Connector Confusion! (7 min 0 sec)

Well, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it seems we can't even standardize pins and shrouds on Micro Servos?
Yes, that's right! I found out when completing a total Brushless Conversion on the WLToys F949 Cessna 182.
I selected a Micro Low Voltage Receiver that has Micro JST-SH Pins with a 1.0mm Pitch.
Would you believe that most of the Micro Servos I came across have Micro JST-SH Pins with 1.25mm Pitch?
Yep, you heard right, apparently things aren't difficult enough in our Beloved Hobby, the Manufacturers have to use different Pins and Shrouds for the exact same size and voltage of Micro Servos!
I will explain what I have discovered and how to mitigate this problem introduced by RC Manufacturer in regards to Micro Servos.

Here is a link to the Micro DSM2/DSMX Receiver I used which has JST-SH 1.0mm Pitch Sockets:
2.4G 4CH Micro Low Voltage DSM2 DSMX Compatible Receiver Built-in Brushed ESC
https://www.banggood.com/2_4G-4CH-Mi...47791920140372

Here is a link to the Micro Servos I used which have JST-SH 1.0mm Pitch Connectors that work with the Receiver:

I hope this helps someone interested in matching up Micro Servos for this Receiver.

This is a fairly large plane compared to what I have flown thus far. The largest plane I have in my hanger by far.
The assembly is fairly straight forward so I did not include an assembly video.
The plane is dubbed a Glider and Trainer.
I don't think I would recommend a plane this large as a trainer. Perhaps as a 3rd plane.
I removed the Y-cable from the Aileron Servos, installed Servo Extension Cables and programmed it for Flaperons.
I am using a 3S 2200mah 40C LIPO (192g) for this plane and had to move the battery all the way forward to get the CG correct.
You could use a smaller LIPO if you have a camera mounted at the front.
Be sure to check your CG on this plane before flight.

I thought this may be a good candidate for our "Glue & Fly Series" Mini ParkJets.
I'm currently using a King Kong/LDARC 2205 2300kv Motor.
I'm hoping since this motor should have more torque than the 2205 and the KV is slightly higher it will provide more thrust without using more amps ;-)
Let's see how it performs.

Well, I have to say this little 2 channel plane is a winner and I would definitely buy it again ;-)
Like all the FlyBear Planes I've reviewed it does require a little bit of nose weight as it is tail heavy.
My initial nose weight was 2.5 grams using a penny minted after 1982 as they were 3.1 grams before 1983.
That amount of added nose weight worked out great and I loved the way it flew, but can it fly even better?
Next I tried using two 5mm nylock nuts that weighed 2.1 grams, too light in the nose.
In this flight I tried a dime which weighs 2.27 grams, was it an improvement?
Let's see if that will make an improvement in it's flying characteristics.

I was looking for a brushed motor, gearbox, and prop that I might be able to use as a replacement for the motor, gearbox, and prop in my Volantex Mini Trainstar or in my WLToys F949 Cessna 182.
It doesn't produce enough thrust to make a good upgrade in my WLToys F949 Cessna 182, however, I think it may be a very good replacement for my Volantex Mini Trainstar.
I will follow this up with a short Tutorial in assembly of this motor, gearbox, and prop and then a field test of this motor, gearbox, and prop in my Mini Trainstar.
Stay tuned ;-)

I ordered one of these for a "Glue & Fly Series" Micro Trainer Plane I'm going to build and also to convert the WLToys F949 Cessna 182 to a Brushless System.
I tested it first with a Brushed Motor and it worked fine, however, I had to set the throttle trim nearly to the bottom to keep the Brushed Motor from spinning up immediately. After that it worked fine.
I then tested it with some Micro Servos I ordered and a Brushless Motor & Prop.
This tiny Receiver works great and I have already performed a field test with 7 flight.
I was flying out to a max range of approx. 125-150 meters and had no issues.
I will be ordering more of these ;-)

Review Part 2 - Field Testing the BlueSky 5V/3A SBEC we added to our OPTO ESC

We have installed this Converted OPTO ESC in our "Glue & Fly Series" F-22 Mini V2 for this Field Test ;-)

Review Part 2 - Field Testing the BlueSky 5V/3A SBEC we added to our OPTO ESC (7 min 23 sec)

I performed (6) Test Flights this morning and had no desync and the throttle was smooth and linear.
During each Test Flight I changed throttle range periodically from 50% to 100%.
On each launch the throttle ramp-up was smooth and linear.
The total weight of the combined FVT LittleBee 20A OPTO ESC and the BlueSky 5V/3A SBEC was 10.9 grams ;-)
It is a very compact and light weight setup and gives you 5 volts of switching power at 3 amps.
This is something you just don't get with a 20 amp ESC.

Update!!!!

A post by "Per Buch" on this video brought to my attention and corrected my Brain-Cramp in that you do not need two servo connectors on this setup.
You can clip the Ground Wire on the ESC and move the ESC Signal Wire to the Voltage Regulator Power and Ground Servo Connector and it will work fine.
I tested this setup in my Parkjet and it worked great!
Now there is no downside to using this setup as it only requires 1 Receiver Port ;-)
It also decrease the weight to 10.9 grams ;-)
Even better!

Review Part 1 - BlueSky UBEC 5V 3A Step-Down Switching Voltage Regulator

I ordered (3) of these and they weighed between 5.26g-5.31g
The output voltage for the three I received are as follows; 4.94v | 4.97v | 4.99v
The one with the 4.94v output is a little low but I think it will work.

I like some of the OPTO ESCs to use in my Parkjets, however, I like using Switching Voltage Regulators to power my Receiver, Servos, and FPV equipment.
Switching Voltage Regulators are much more efficient than the Linear Voltage Regulators which is what you typically get with ESCs smaller then 40A.
They also produce less heat and use less of your flight battery, a win, win ;-)
So I install these on my OPTO ESCs and have a much more efficient Voltage Regulator that usually ends up being lighter than the same size ESC with a Linear Regulator.
Also a win, win ;-)
I'm going to make a Tutorial on how I install these on my OPTO ESCs and then a Field Test for Part 2 of this review.
Stay tuned ;-)
