1/3.75, and 4 meters span. Had to move the furniture to get most of it in shot. -

This model is an HF original with glass fuse, rudder, and stab, and very tough obechi sheeted foam cored wings; I think they have fiber glass between the foam and sheeting. -

Re-balancing Nimbus with new battery. -

Balancing nicely on CG machine after moving SLS battery as far forward as possible and adding a few ounces of lead. Balanced at 45mm from leading edge. -

Controls checked out excellently, once again, everything centers nicely and mixes work quite well -

When I took the original battery to the Hobby shop, they kept it for a day, the owner upon opening it found a couple puffed cells and promptly got spooked; acted like it would explode there and then. The battery had not been used in months and the cells -

Note the difference in size from the above and current photo. Yup...I am happy, less weight in the Nimbus and I think that if I move it far enough forward, the sailplane will balance with little or no additional weight.

I got this hardwood piece inserted and epoxied into the inner wing, it is the length of the rod inside the wing. -
Views: 273
After it cured a little, I poured ample amounts of epoxy into the voids between the hardwood and the wingrod; the inserted part of the rod is covered with grease, forming a nice sleeve around the rod with rod relatively easy to remove. -

Finished product, finally much stronger. Wing won't come loose now!

Decals under wings were changed, you can hardly see them in this pic. -

Wish I could show SLS run up, but I only have two hands!

The cable dangling from the wingroot is for the left hand spoiler and is one of two extending from the matchbox. -

I purchased this "Bratt" doll from Walmart for about $3.00, when i first got the sailplane together; he has lived through a crash. -

You can see the large LiPo just beneath the cockpit floor; cut away because of the size of the battery. This was the battery that came with the model, about 4 to 5 years ago. It is still good, charges well and supplies alot of power to the SLS; good for

Although 5.2 meters and 1/5th scale, this sailplane is big! the fuselage is close to 6 feet long, about 5'10". -

Trying to fit the totally assembled plane into this pic was close to impossible. But you can see those nice long slender forward sweeping wings with multiple leading edge sweep. -

The magic, for me, of this plane is my memory of seeing these long slender wings lift it into the air. And although it moves and covers alot of ground, it will spiral up into some of the lightest smallest thermals, wings bending up, very unreal and beaut -

As you may notice, but not as apparent when you see it under natural lighting, the difference in color between inner and outer panels. I may paint the outer panels to match. By the way, I have left the underside of the stab and center panels in the orig

New $50.00 eBay Futaba 9 channel reciever in place; works real nice. Note my landing gear mechanism. Two years ago, a 17 year old kid at my local hobby shop machined these for me from the originals that were way less sturdy.
